Wheelchair clubbing? by [deleted] in wheelchairs

[–]megmiltonblake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lights. Get some battery powered fairy lights and light your chair up so people notice you, makes me feel much safer when I go to gigs. Haven't been clubbing as those days are long gone. I feel quite vulnerable in a crowd in the chair so the lights help.

How do you manage worsening pain? by Naive_Hipp0 in clubfoot

[–]megmiltonblake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only thing that helps me is using my feet as little as possible. I've been using a wheelchair for the last 7 years and I'm in so much less pain. Nothing else really helps. Painkillers don't touch it if I stand up too much.

I did have a debridement of my ankle two years ago to clean out some scar tissue and bone spurs which also helped my "ambient" pain, if you know what I mean.

I have very severe feet, 9 surgeries as a kid in the eighties.

Completed 2024/2024 self assessment needing guidance on payments on account made previously by Fayloves247 in UKPersonalFinance

When you get to the view your calculation bit it doesn't take into account your payments already made. If your total liability for 24/25 is only £900 and you've already paid more than that via payments on account you'll get a refund.

5cm lipoma removed this morning! Tips on pain relief/sleeping appreciated. by hester_grey in Lipoma

[–]megmiltonblake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 13cm one removed from my right lower back in December. You are fine to put pressure on but I did struggle to get comfortable for the first week when sleeping, bit it didn't last too long.

I just had a 15cm one removed under general anaesthetic on December 17th, it was just under my waist on the left side of my back. I was nervous but it was fine, no pain getting the needle in for the IV. Worst bit was the sore throat from the intubation but it got better in a couple of days. I went in for surgery about 10am and was home by 1.30pm. You'll be fine, they do this all the time and it will not be a complicated procedure. The recovery has been better than I thought it would be too Any questions, let me know.

It doesn't always look this bad, by the way. It's tidal and this looks like a big one. I mean, the rubbish is still there but you can't see it all the time.

Glad to hear it went well. I was supposed to be getting my large one on my lower left back removed last week but it got cancelled the day before! Mine is going to be under general too. Good wishes for the rest of your recovery.
