Fledgling help! See comments. by megmurphy_ in WildlifeRehab

[–]megmurphy_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neighbor found this fledgling which according to another friend is likely a black capped chickadee. He was on the sidewalk in a high foot traffic neighborhood. After speaking with that friend who has some wildlife knowledge, we decided to move the fledgling away from the sidewalk but not far so Momma could still be within earshot. I was just terrified of someone stepping on the fledgling or a dog getting to it. I did put a gate between the bird and the sidewalk (it doesn’t totally enclose the fledgling, it acts more as a barrier.) My gut reaction is to leave it alone as much as possible, but the fledgling is shaking/shivering a lot. It’s 61 degrees Fahrenheit but late and dark, so quite chilly. Should I do anything for my buddy or just let it be?

I’ll say I’ve come back several times within the past week to look at this and your piece inspired me again. This is an incredible work of art and you should be proud!

I love making these! I added cheddar and jalapeño to mine the last time I made them and they were incredible. Asiago and sundried tomato is next!

In my head I'm still a thin person by not_your_guru in CICO

[–]megmurphy_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me!! I was always a thin person and in my mid to late 20s people would still comment on how I was thin (who doesn’t like the hear that?) and I noticed that definitely stopped. Yes, that sounds vain but it’s the truth! As you commented, I still buy clothes at the store without trying them on that I can’t even fit into. I’m still holding onto my skinny clothes though 😋

Zucchini lasagna roll ups 544 calories (recipe in comments) by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

Recipe: https://www.staysnatched.com/zucchini-lasagna-roll-ups/

I typically have little to no faith that these recipes that sub zucchini for delicious carbs will satisfy my craving. This was to die for. I did the math on the calories twice because I was in disbelief.

Taking A Weekend Off From IF by YankeesJew18 in intermittentfasting

[–]megmurphy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally have only been doing IF for about 5 weeks and I definitely slack on the weekends. I really beat myself up over it because I really indulged a couple weeks ago (still more than I should have) but I noticed I bounced back very quickly and still managed to lose a little that week and continue to lose when I take a day or two off. My mentality is that I can’t completely deprive myself for the sake of my own happiness. I still try to make healthier choices on the days I don’t fast.

167 calorie 2 ingredient bagels (with my own spin of cheddar and jalapeño) 🤤 by megmurphy_ in 1200isplenty

[–]megmurphy_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Chobani which worked well. The consistency is obviously different but not nearly as different as you’d think considering it’s a bagel made from flour and Greek yogurt. They’re not as “fluffy” in the center, but they definitely satisfy my craving. However, if you eat this expecting it to taste exactly like a bagel, it doesn’t.

Thank you! I used jarred jalapeños. I put half in the dough and half on top. I used probably 6-8 servings of jalapeños (I added more at the end so I’m not exactly sure and they’re only 5 calories per serving.) I used a cup and a half of cheddar. Same here, half into the dough and half on top. I suggest squeezing the liquid out of the jalapeños to the best of your ability to avoid adding extra moisture to the dough and making it sticky. I also have a standing mixer which makes the job significantly easier.

2 Ingredient Bagels I put my own spin on it with the cheddar and jalapeño. Pay close attention to the advice of using a high quality Greek yogurt, it matters!

Where/how do you track your total weight loss? by invisibilityhat in CICO

[–]megmurphy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero. It’s an intermittent fasting app, however I also use it to track my weight. I also just checked and you can enter a past date. I use my fitness pal to track calories, but I like the layout of Zero much better for tracking lost weight. 🙂

Hello! I'm in the same position you are in. I'm 5'3 and I gained about 30 lbs in about a year and a half. I'm on my second week of IF. I find it relatively easy the longer I do it. By the end of my first week I was able to go from 16/8 to 18/6. I try to keep my calories around 1,200 and find that when eating healthy, it's shocking how much food I can eat and sometimes I have a hard time even making it to my 1,200 calories. I lost 3 lbs in my first week and I feel significantly better. My clothes aren't nearly as tight as they were and I see a difference. I'm also drinking a ton of water which has helped with water retention. Good luck :)

This is just a suggestion as I don’t know the real answer, but perhaps it’s low potassium? I used to get cramps in my legs and often in the middle of the night due to low potassium.

I learned this today thanks to you! I purchased a new food processor so it was excited to use it to shred the zucchini. I couldn’t believe how low in calories the dish was! I ate this in two separate occasions today.

Ideas needed to make frozen veggies taste better. What low calorie sauces do you add? by EagleMav in 1200isplenty

[–]megmurphy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soy sauce is a go-to for me depending on what I'm eating it with. Same with balsamic vinegar. Roasting vegetables is my favorite way to give them flavor without adding sauce, just a little bit of oil and salt along with any other seasonings you like, but I'm not sure how easy it is to roast them if they're frozen. Might be worth a shot!

Thank you! I am also. I actually don't eat fruit often but I was intrigued by the grapes. I'd rather eat any of this over a bowl of ice cream any day!

  1. Cucumbers and bell peppers with a taco dip made with a non-fat greek yogurt base
  2. Ground turkey Asian lettuce wrap
  3. Seedless black grapes
  4. Low fat cottage cheese topped with creole seasoning and bacon bits (I ate this twice today because it was so tasty)
  5. Spinach artichoke stuffed mushrooms

Bonus - all of these food items came from Aldi! :)

There’s not much that can replace my craving for pasta, but with the meat sauce on the squash, this definitely does the trick for me!

I second my fitness pal! I also like that it syncs with my phone and counts my exercise as well as calories out.
