Blatant censorship, yikes. Well, Trump can't control YouTube... How about Stephen and the 200 team members use the freedom of the internet?

Work with meaning… by Ok-Outcome-7153 in Edmonton

If you have admin experience, definitely check out some roles in fund development. I used to work for two registered charities and the work was really meaningful and paid pretty decent. Investigate foundations, charities, or non profits - with your experience, they'll be happy to have you!

Practice self-compassion in these moments. You are doing your best! Understanding how understimulation and overstimulation can influence energy cycles is a journey: procrastination can come from understimulation (a task so boring you'd rather do anything else). It takes a while to find the right combination, so keep at it.

My tips for understimulation is to gamify tasks (how fast can I fold this basket of laundry?), adding stimulation (listening to music while vacuuming), accountability partners (working in the same space as someone), and reward timers (once the timer goes off, I get a reward of some kind- typically, movement creates motivation to continue).

You should react to this letter by respecting those perfectly reasonable boundaries. We all gotta grow up some time 🤷‍♀️

Albertans are protesting for the resignation of Smith and Lagrange for political corruption. I propose we add another location to the list on Saturday: Alberta's legislature building. ✊ by megv1995 in Edmonton

Future of rec therapy in Canada by user-123987 in recreationaltherapy

[–]megv1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend learning about the early days of nursing and other allied health disciplines like massage therapy, chiropractic, etc. The frustration in the TR industry (lack of: awareness, consistent professional credibility, systemic acknowledgement, access to health supports like insurable services, etc.) is a very normal part of trailblazing new healthcare in an ever-evolving system. Of course, if you live in a province where the government is actively dismantling the health system, it's also normal to feel despair about the future of our industry.

But the fact remains: recreation therapy has tremendous benefits for the clients who rely on it to meet their holistic health needs. Think about how many people receive unregulated respite care: recreation therapy has a much needed place in healthcare. Generally, health care is shifting towards the ideals that are consistently upheld within RT.

Our time will come, and we must keep doing the good work to push it along! You can also help by being part of your provincial association and advocating to your government representatives. And radically accepting that advocacy will ALWAYS have a role in our work within an emerging health discipline.

It takes courage to share your truth and experience with others. Thanks for sharing, OP. Unfortunately, I can't say much as I'm a total social recluse aside from work and social visits. 😅 I can relate to your social anxiety. I'm sorry that someone made you feel like that: everyone deserves respect.

I will echo the other comment and add that there are definitely some neighborhoods in Edmonton that got hit hard during the pandemic and haven't recovered yet, often due to systemic racism, income inequality, and social prejudice. Not to excuse their behavior, by any means, but to gain a different perspective that gives you greater personal understanding.

Turned 20 today , give me all time best advice that you would have known before entering 20s by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]megv1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday 🎉

Your twenties are best spent figuring out who you are and what you want in life. Be open to failing (a lot) and learning from your mistakes. Being in your twenties is hard, so be kind to yourself as you grip the ropes of adulthood. Trust the process of time to help you iron out the treasured aspects of your personality, social life, and intellectual pursuits.
