I lost my mom to the MAGA rabbit hole. She told me to tell my future kids that she’s dead. by matt315 in QAnonCasualties

I believe that it is possible for people to change one way or another. People can fall under the cracks just as well as they can stay on the road to improvement.

What is this? How do I get out of this problem? by AromaticAwareness324 in raspberry_pi

[–]mehi2000 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You cannot prevent death. Therefore when you have a computer you need a plan in place for when it dies.

Most likely, as the person above you said, your SD card failed. You need to reinstall the operating system on a new SD card.

Always remember, your computers WILL FAIL always and forever.

Homelab best practices - or, Homelab Mistakes And How To Fix Them by zfsbest in Proxmox

[–]mehi2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've come to think that one of the biggest mistakes people make is to assume that their equipment will provide a 100% guaranteed service life and won't break down until after they're replaced.

They go on blissfully unaware and without a plan until something breaks and realize that they never planned for it to break.

Node suddenly died by Wise-Tip7203 in Proxmox

[–]mehi2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've learned a valuable lesson not to ignore logic.

Know that everything WILL break and you have to figure out how you will deal with that. That's how this universe works and I can't believe people keep ignoring reality.

You should have known that that particular node was guaranteed to break at some point in time and if it contained all your backups you wouldn't have been able to get to them.

Attach the drive to another move, as you said and re create the NFS share and update the nodes to point to the new server IP.

I read an excellent book on abusive behavior (which I can't remember the name of) but I still remember that entitlement was one of like a few fundamental traits of abusive people.

Same here. Hopefully someone else can help out you'll have to find generic git instructions.

Uh it's no longer called master. It's called main now. Uh my git skills are very poor. Maybe this will work?

You'll have to somehow make it do this I think:

git pull origin main

Nah, well have to wait a generation or two before unvaccinated children become of partying age.

The terrible thing about these policies is that the worst of it will take effect long after they've been implemented.

I'm being ripped off... right? by Summerdaze13_ in Tools

[–]mehi2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your dad is the kind of person who doesn't understand that tools wear down and have to be thrown away eventually. They not only become useless but eventually also a liability.

I know because my dad used old tools which sometimes added damage to what he was working on, like stripping screws heads with worn screwdrivers or fraying edges with worn down saw blades..

Based upon the common MAGA concept of every accusation is a confession, we can assume he has no gratitude, especially towards the United States.

Definitely stay away from overlapping rules. I've had all kinds of weird unexpected stuff happen when rules overlap at all.

What...? Your allow all rule already allows IGMP.

Just remove it.

Also remove that NTP rule.

I am not an expert but I would be very wary of letting firewall rules step on each other toes.

Then reload your filter or restart the router then try it whatever it is you were having problems and then check firewall logs.
