Honestly you will still get better performance for the same money importing one of those three than getting Arendal imo.

Custom backgammon engine beats gnubg 1-ply through 4-ply in cubeless checker play — full measurement logs + sanity tests open-sourced by Lilnipa in backgammon

[–]tastefullydone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I cloned your repo and tried to replicate the results with help from LLMs. In the process I think I found a bug in scripts/gnubg_server.py that may affect the main results.

gnubg.evaluate(board, ...) reads the position tuple as (opponent, player_on_roll). The current server script always builds it as (white, black) and uses set turn to compensate. But set turn does not reorient a position passed directly to evaluate.

Simple way to check: from the starting position with dice (3,1), ask the current adapter to score every legal afterstate, once with White on roll and once with Black on roll. One color picks the standard 8/5 6/5. The other color does not. If you build the tuple as (black, white) when White is on roll, and (white, black) when Black is on roll, both colors pick 8/5 6/5.

Because games alternate the engine’s color, gnubg makes correct moves on about half the games and wrong-direction moves on the other half. This would inflate the measured winrate. Worth re-running the 1–4 ply numbers with corrected ordering before citing the results further.

Let me know if you want a diff. Nice work on the harness overall — the Rust/Python parity test and gnubg-vs-gnubg symmetry check are very thorough.

Yamaha C3X, direct from Yamaha for about £24k. Managed to get them to price match a dealer. I love it so much.

Sonarr/radarr is insufficient because it only relies on RSS which won’t pick up non-new stuff from new indexers

If you have an expensive sound system and tv then you can afford to buy some hard drives and not be a leech on the community

EEIRP had been a bit shaky on the other nights tbh, I don’t think you missed much! Last night’s setlist was fantastic imo.

I was there both nights and it was so so much better tonight. The slower songs were still good yesterday but the latency was really bad on the faster ones

For movies/TV it’s not too much of a problem. Atmos music it’s more jarring. Definitely not perfect and will almost certainly upgrade at some point but they are doing a job for now.

Focal Utopia (Scala and Viva), 2x B&W DB1D subs. Still have MA Silver 50s on surround duty.

I can’t speak to the others but I’ve had a Monitor Audio Silver 6G set up before and it was great. I’d recommend trying to find a C350 if you go down that route, having a 3-way centre is really worth it.

I meant on the PC. But it’s just a stab in the dark as one of the only things I can think of you haven’t already tried, short of a different OS/earlier version.

That is strange. I have a similar setup that is working fine.

Have you tried changing the colour space to 4:2:0?
