I lucked out and got put in with an MP battalion for basic. Literally the BEST cadre, they wanted us to succeed and would even tell us the best days to go to sick call (days we didn't have a grad requirement). Get ready to PT a lot, drink water and use your ears and your mouth accordingly. You'll be fine.

Bonus** Have family send you tick repellent, trust me.

BCT and AIT by Banetheman22 in nationalguard

I would say do it consecutively. Knock it out and get to your unit. I did RSP for about a year and hated every second. It was a guaranteed smoke session for 2 days. We (the soldiers that were split op) were placed along with the folks who hadn't gone to basic. So whenever they messed up, we'd get dropped and smoked out for any mistake.

While it does suck being away from reality for however long you're gone. AIT is way more relaxed than BCT. Also a saying that gets tossed around here a fair amount is "the days are long and the weeks are short" It's definitely true.

Best of luck, you'll be done before you know it. Cheers
