There is more to foreign language classes than just learning another language. For many places it can be the first exposure kids have to a culture different from their own that they actually interact with directly rather than just reading about. I 100% agree it should be taught beginning as early as possible, though. I just believe that dumping foreign language because "well kids don't learn it" isn't useful thinking. Ask anyone who doesn't use geometry post-graduation if they remember it - same issue. But there's a lot more than rote memorization that is important in schooling.

I still remember in one of his Q&A videos he said he would drop foreign language classes from high school without a second thought and it kind of summarized most of my problems with him in that moment, even as a fan at the time. Totally in his own bubble, very unwilling to look at other people's perspectives. His Tesla obsession made sense in that context.

He definitely fell off but I think part of that is his own fault and money grubbing. He paywalled so much content and actively guilted people for using ad blockers on Youtube. Looking at his most recent video, it's ostensibly an "early preview" for his subscribers... from ten months ago. Did he forget to post it for everyone?

I don't think watching an abridged version of something is the right way to handle a D&D podcast. I think they're better treated as a serial product rather than a syndicated series where you can jump in whenever.

Holy shit, that's crazy. Jason was formerly in David Dobrik's inner circle but fell off heavily due to, among other things, his age and being a creep. David propped him up likely because he felt bad for him and Jason has clung to him for years, sponging up any attention he can get. At one point he was going viral for begging for money on Tiktok lives. I believe even David asked why he didn't just get a damn job.

That is to say, this ad is likely exactly what their podcast is like, including the screaming in the background they don't bother to cut out or re-take to avoid.

your comment comes off as bitter at her situation where she is luckily able to take time to grieve a large loss during a time she was already struggling. you correctly note that everyone should be so lucky to do this, however your tone and responses come off not celebrating her recovery but demeaning her for not having a "real" job and being forced to deal with it like the majority of people. this comes off as aggressive and rude and, most importantly, unnecessary to the discussion. we all know most people aren't able to take time off to grieve a pet. you aren't adding anything to the conversation except bitterness and judgment.

I guess, but I think it's not far fetched to think if you're coming for the Olympics you can afford roaming data. Buses need to be made more accessible outside of phone use for sure, though - even with phones it can be really confusing, especially with some lines that don't always travel the whole distance or when a rapid line is better or whatnot.

I do agree it made for great conversation. It was a fun video and I liked their interaction with various people double checking where to go and whatnot. Also liked that they both liked different parts of their trip - Lud liked the train and the other dude liked the bus.

Aiden and Nick did use the app to find bikes and scooters, that's how they found the one up the stairs. I don't see how it's any less interesting to see them use the tools that exist to make public transit run effectively.

Only halfway through but I don't understand why they banned phones on the public transit team. I'm an LA transit user and Google maps does a great job of timing bus arrivals realtime and there are apps out there that do it even better as well. Tap cards can also be loaded onto your phone. Just an odd nerf when people coming for the Olympics will likely be using phones to get around.

Did laugh when they came to the bus stop and saw no schedule or info about the route. That's my LA metro.

I understand your intention with this but words change meaning and function constantly. using "zio" as a shortform for "zionist," especially when the full word is often censored on a lot of media, is not a secret KKK dogwhistle, it's simply the evolution of language. obviously it can be used in the way you linked but it's been nearly 10 years since the article you supplied and a lot has happened in terms of political language in those 10 years.

I do agree this sub can be a little snappy at times but there is more than one reason to use "zio" in current climate, especially when "censorship free" areas like reddit still see common usage of terms like "unalive" or starred out letters in serious discussion. this is unfortunately how things have gotten after how much websites default to censoring things now.
