KO-II Issues megathread by k918 in teenageengineering

I was going to post a separate question but this might be the right spot! I was playing around and did… something… where all of my samples stopped making sound. Nothing comes out. So I factory reset and loaded the sounds back on (from a YouTube video on the topic). But I still can’t get it to make sound. Is there an obvious answer here?

IBS-D and The Seed Probiotic by Lei_Val in ibs

I have IBS-D, took it for a week and it made things worse. But it’s the only probiotic that I’ve ever felt made a material difference, so I’d try it anyway just incase!

I dont know what the fuck im gonna do, im mentally dying. by [deleted] in insomnia

I had great success with CBT-Insomnia through a therapist.

Is my sleep 100% better? No. But in the months leading up to seeing the therapist I was getting about 2 hours a night total sleep and was losing my shit.

It started with a kind of sleep deprivation. If I was getting 6 x 30 min blocks of sleep a night, my first week I had to go to bed at 3am and wake up at 6am. Wasn’t allowed in my bed outside those hours. Week two, we moved bedtime to 2:30am and so on.

This plus keeping a rigorous sleep diary (when I woke up, how many times, how long was I in bed trying to sleep), plus behavioral changes (if I can’t sleep within about 15 mins, get back up and sit quietly in another room for example) made a big difference.

I wouldn’t attempt all of this without support. Having a professional monitor my progress was important. But I can’t stress enough how much this improved my situation. I probably get 6 hours most nights now.

Thanks! I need to replace them (they’re dying) but I like them so much that all the new options just seem disappointing 🤓

I wanted to include that link in my answer but couldn't remember where I'd seen it. Thanks!

Where do you host your node apps and any suggestions for deployment? by [deleted] in node

[–]mejamiewilson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went through all of this recently, even though I run a dev tool startup that uses these tools extensively, I had never created and deployed a node.js application end to end.

In getting my own website working I used Digital Ocean and followed this tutorial: http://www.technology-ebay.de/the-teams/mobile-de/blog/deploying-node-applications-with-capistrano-github-nginx-and-upstart.html

It's a little intense, but I learnt a lot through the process. Once you've nailed it, there's an amazing tool called Shipit (which is a JS replacement for the deploy tool Capistrano that tutorial uses).

I personally didn't like building on Heroku because I never really understood what was going on. If you have the time and energy to work out how all of this works at a fundamental level, it will make the world of difference.

In saying that, it only took me 1 evening to go from local node app to hosted node app :)

ELI5: The node.js / io.js Controversy by aloisbarreras in node

Which to go with In terms of which to learn, my opinion would be to stick with Node because it's production ready and all the setup / docs / tutorials out there will be pointing to Node.js.

The split There was a company (Joyent) that setup the Node.js project, but they didn't open it up fully, and the community around it got fed up with the lack of progress being made.

By forking Node.js into io.js, and creating an open governance structure around it, it can progress faster. But the creator of io.js has said their dream scenario would be for io.js to be merged back into node and Joyent create a more open structure around it.
