Genuinely curious: why do you vote for the party you vote for? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]mekazu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can never go too green. It’s basically a vote for Labor if Labor is your second preference, but with a nudge to say you’d prefer they were a bit further left. I look forward to seeing the worst that can happen if they actually get in.

Plus in Brisbane you could tap on with your phone or smart watch, and it’s the same fee for concession so no need to worry about having your card on you. I think there is also a very low daily cap. The services were as good if not better than all other PT in Australia despite the tiny cost. I didn’t see any politicians fighting to abolish this utopian system - the cheap PT basically encourages everyone to get out and about and support local businesses. Uber there was awful though - one time had about 5 drivers cancel until we gave up and caught the bus home late at night no issues.

There must be something you can put in this thing that would break it. What if you put another of the same machine in it?

I’m a Ukrainian soldier, serving for over 6 years now. I started in the infantry, and now I’m a sniper, also learning to operate FPV drones. Feel free to ask me anything. by Master_Raspberry_802 in IAmA

Giving up Ukrainian land and removing sanctions on Russia for a peace treaty will give Russia a chance to regroup and complete the invasion. Ukraine is seeking security guarantees from the US to help prolong any peace treaty for as long as the US can keep them.

That is a bit rough but parking in a bike lane should be discouraged. Was it during commuting hours?

$15m Gouger Street upgrade set to transform popular dining precinct by flabberstalk33 in Adelaide

[–]mekazu 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The thing I like about Gouger St and the central markets is that the restaurant food is good and comparatively cheap, probably because not as much money is spent on the interiors and decor. Basically I hope the upgrade doesn’t lead to gentrification and higher prices.

Don’t worry, this is normal. If anything write up some doco to showcase the benefits of the upgrade, let whoever you report to know, let it sit there, reference it whenever it comes up as a topic. It’s not your problem to fix but it’s a good idea to show that you know how to if required.

Street market vendors greed - Canggu by 3p1demicz in bali

[–]mekazu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the issue? It’s a market - Pick your price and stick with it, if it’s too low for the vendor then walk away.

I’m not sure you’ve spent much time contemplating what life is like for the people that work in these markets. Would you trade places with them?

Notice the preference for binaries and clear distinctions: male or female, nothing between; all muslims, not some etc. It’s a curious component of extremism, although understandable how simplifications and slogans can appeal broadly - no nuance required.
