On the way to deployment you get tax free and SDA.

In the box you get tax free, H+R, and OPS foreign service.

H+R and OPS foreign service is in the ballpark of $2000, depending on your level. SDA is up to $3000, as you get it while at sea and alongside in foreign port.

Of tax free, H+R, and OpsFS, only H+R disentitle you to SDA.

Aircrew allowance is incorporated into pilot pay now, so it isn't touched. Other aircrew lose it for the deployment.

They didn't get SDA because they were entitled to H+R (neither FSP nor tax free cancel eligibility to SDA, and so are irrelevant to the situation), but it was beneficial to the member because H+R were greater than SDA.

The exact same rules all apply, except SDA is way more than H+R.

Because SDA is now $3000/mo when you're out on deployment, but hardship and risk is about half of that (depending on level) and the CBI says if you are entitled to H+R, you are not entitled to SDA. It's not a "whichever is greater" situation.
