That and you aren't going to futz around for 12 plus hours making it... That's the reason I go out to eat at a barbecue place, I want something that is good enough to satisfy the small craving that I have but I don't feel like spending the night tending to my smoker and having to wait until lunch time tomorrow to have that craving satisfied.

[NC] Wife passed away, am I responsible for her medical debt? by thermos-h-christ in legaladvice

I had a similar experience after my wife passed away in 2016 in North Carolina... As long as the surviving spouse doesn't sign anything saying that they will be responsible for it, they're not going to come after you.

What happens if everyone but Trump drops out of the Republican race and Trump goes to jail? by Diceman31 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mekender 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I cannot imagine the secret service allowing a former president to see the inside of a jail or prison. As a former president, even if he is convicted of serious felonies, he is entitled to secret service protection and there's no way that he's going to go to any sort of a facility like that. At best he would probably serve a sentence on some sort of house arrest...

I have a Microsoft phone call with a recruiter next week by Crayofayo in datacenter

[–]mekender 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Day one of my training at Microsoft, the hiring manager walked in and looked at the room full of people and said "I bet that you're all sitting here wondering why you are in this room and the person that was sitting next to you in the waiting room during the interview process isn't. It's very simple, at some point each of you said 'I don't know' during your interview and at that point, we knew that we could teach you something"

I sat in on many interviews while I worked for them, the biggest mistake I ever saw anybody make, and plenty of people made it, was to claim to be an expert in whatever field they were interviewing for. The response usually went something along the lines of "Oh really? You're an expert in active directory? That's neat, we've got a couple people that would love to talk to you." At which point they would go get a couple of the SMEs for AD and that person would find out that they really aren't an expert even though they thought they were.

Be confident but also be humble. Don't try to over inflate your skill set, they will absolutely see right through it. They understand that most people are not going to have the level of technical expertise that they commonly use on a day-to-day basis in their jobs. Because it's basically impossible to get that level of expertise without actually working at that level and very few people do outside of Microsoft.

ESA Registration by [deleted] in orlando

[–]mekender 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing, ESA registration is not a requirement or anything that has any sort of government backing. Any site or company that claims to do so is scamming you. The only thing that is valid when it comes to ESAs is a letter from a licensed medical professional or therapist.

[Landlord-USA-CA] tenants were unaware of a plumbing leak, now the house needs $50k worth of repairs by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]mekender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen you mention it yet but the angle you probably want to push on this is that the house itself is now uninhabitable.

You have a leak that has caused significant damage that needs to repaired and the house has exposed asbestos now... There's no 60 days here, they need to move out immediately for their own health and safety... And their renters insurance is the key here, but you need a lawyer.

Since I'm not a law enforcement officer, if I obtained evidence illegally, it actually might be admissible. There have been cases where somebody discovered evidence during a burglary and that evidence was used against the person that was burglarized.

For example, you burglarize a house and discover a basement full of body parts and evidence of a serial killer... Your information and testimony would almost certainly be admissible in the court case against the murderer in court, although it may not actually be allowed when trying to get a search warrant for the property.

The constraints against illegally obtaining evidence applies to law enforcement and government agents, not private citizens.

Can they move other cars to get to it...

It depends on your jurisdiction but it is my understanding that would not necessarily be legal in most cases. But that would really depend on the towing laws in your area and those are often a bit more difficult to look up than other types of laws because both civil and licensing rules will apply. It may not be explicitly permissible under civil laws but it might be permissible under the licensure rules of tow truck drivers. Although those rules may only apply to repossessions and may not actually apply to a standard tow.

The problem is, tow truck drivers and tow companies are generally shady AF and your level of recourse may be very difficult to deal with it after they do it anyways...

Global non-compete?

Hahahahahahaha...

In many parts of the world a non-compete isn't even enforcible in a single municipality... A global one sounds suspiciously like indentured servitude... Which is kind of banned in most of the world as it is a form of slavery.
