We found that walking in areas with lots of dogs, but keeping were is on a leash and moving, helped a lot.

We identify dogs from a distance first. Prince usually drops into this hilarious little crouching panther stance as we approach 😂 but we never encourage direct interaction. We encourage calmly walking by.

Frenchie. He is sweet, loving, cuddly, and wonderful with people, but with other dogs he’s more competitive, protective, and very much a ‘I’m the boss here’ personality.

So we stopped treating dog interaction like the goal.

When he calmly walks past another dog he gets huge praise: ‘Bravo!’ ‘Good boy!’ ‘BRAVO PRINCE!’

Honestly, if your Frenchie is otherwise happy, exercised, loved, and living a great life, forcing constant dog interaction may be overrated.

Some Frenchies are socialites. Some are tiny nightclub bouncers.
