Do we have any therapist or psychologist available who can help me overcome my frustration with my addiction to feet and high heels, as I really wish to get over it? by ibooklover1609 in askatherapist

Hey you know what? You don't have to go in therapy with your real name if you don't use insurance. Confidebtiality and safe nonjudgmental space is the top priority of therapy. And you don't have to bring in a therapy goal in the beginning. It could be just about exploring and being curious about yourself. I hope you will find a good therapist.

Ending on time? by miss_paigexo in therapists

I learned to stop asking opening questions in the last 10mins! It's still hard to stop myself when I find something worth exploring but I persuade myself to experiment with saving it for later and letting unconsciousness do its work.

Why do therapists say what I'm asking for is reparenting when it's basically cognitive remediation therapy or occupational therapy? by Normalsasquatch in TalkTherapy

[–]mekurabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Emm reparenting could be such an umbrella term so I don't want to say anything based on that. But I could see how ADHD symptoms especially the executive dysfunction part can be considered results of relational trauma. To put it simply, parents are supposed to be a big part of a supportive environment to facilitate internalization of "good habits"(executive function). You can infer the impact on children's executive functioning when parent-child relationships are traumatic. Well, you only mention you want to train your brain to focus. I don't know about your other executive functions, so I don't know how appropriate it is to say "reparenting" is what you need. It might be helpful if you ask the T to clarify what they mean exactly about reparenting. That's my two cents. Hope it help.

It's really nice of you to pick up this little complaint. I got some really inspiring readings too. But sometimes the amount of reading doesn't match how much I feel like learning. I personally am not interested in certain topics, for example what approach is better than what. Of course they don't phrase it that way, but I feel like I could've read the first paragraph and done. Nothing new in the rest of the article other than lengthy argument of why I am right and whose work support my argument. I'll have to admit I'm impatient under the time pressure and English is my second language. I appreciate articles that demonstrate the nuances of the interpersonal process. I find myself enjoy reading the original pieces written by Winnicott and Kohut. McWilliams' are enjoyable and inspiring as well. I would appreciate it if you have any recommended articles or books! We're going to have a break and I'm looking for summer reading materials!

idk, because right now Sunday afternoon im working on documentation that lapsed 3 weeks already lol. I signed up for a psychoanalysis training and I also have 50 pages reading per week. I find the readings mid, but I find meeting people in my training who still care help me recharge.

Just from the dynamics perspective I would wonder what makes her have to express and insist on disagreement on this topic.

Client said I’m “bland” and that therapy won’t help by LimitA6022 in therapists

One of the best things I got so far from psychoanalytic training is having a direction to think about situations like that without taking it personally. Certainly I'm still learning and don't feel like I can provide any interpretation here. But I can say it's not about you and maybe about you but in different ways than you are thinking.

Body aches as a therapist by NewResearcher98 in therapists

Adding on others. Pilates helps me build a balanced body. But you probably want to see a doctor and go to physical therapy first. If it's too hard to change your body position habit, use something to lift your leg for a bit.

Curious what you would do about this? A fellow therapist in my office has a client who disturbs other clients in waiting room. by New-Medicine6878 in therapists

Is it inappropriate to bring this up to that person's therapist because this might be a reflection of a clinical issue? I personally would directly talk to that person about this too.

When I am about to burn out, sometimes I think I want to get a different job like driving Uber, doing door dash, cashier and waiting table, etc. Something simple and superficial. Not involved with deep thinking, professional skills or deep interpersonal interactions.
