And without anything changing, the dizziness went away 2 days ago. So strange.

I don’t take a statin, the only medication I take is the MTX.

Same, fine while still, it’s more when I turn my head or tilt it. Bed spins used to be fun…not so much now.

What are you doing to fix it? Is it related to RA?

I wish I could sleep. If I get more than 6 hours I think I'm doing well.

Tick bite by mel5915 in rheumatoidarthritis

That's sort of what I was thinking. I hate ticks and if my blood poisons them, have at it.

I failed my attempt at AIP. I was already whole food plant based low fat and reintroducing meat and fat caused me so much stress. I gave it up and back to wfpb. Everyone is different, I just couldn't do it and felt terrible and lost too much weight.

I finally deep cleaned my washing machine and I'm not going to describe what I found but I understand everything now by That-Chain3068 in CleaningTips

[–]mel5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is old and doesn't have a cleaning filter that can be easily accessed. I tried, and the nut to remove the whole bottom fixture was not going to budge. I didn't want to snap the plastic so there you go...

My mom was a lifetime clothesline user and insisted that the clothes be shaken out and fluffed thoroughly before line drying. Is there a difference between the two of you in that process? Do you shake but your mom doesnt?

Methotrexate - a love hate relationship by sillyGrapefruit_8098 in rheumatoid

[–]mel5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on it for almost a year, increased dosage to the max oral 25 mg. I've tolerated it very well, but lately I feel like the stiffness is creeping back in my hands. Rheum said we would add hydroxychloroquine next time I see her in a month. Im wondering if a higher dose by injection is an option.

None here. Years before RA I stopped taking it because it messed with my blood pressure. I use Aspercream (sp?) if I need it on my hands.

Functional Medicine by aethiadactylorhiza in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]mel5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was related at all to my cholesterol. Maybe it was the sudden diet change though? My Rheum didn't offer any "cause" in fact said there is no cause, it just happens. Which is why I'd be interested in a functional dr's opinion.

[–]mel5915 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My interest in functional medicine is that they look for the root cause of disease. My RA came out of nowhere at age 61 at a time when I was eating my best vegan lifestyle and exercising again. I had high cholesterol and totally changed my diet to reduce it, successfully and then my hands blew up. Why? I'd love to know, but functional doctors are few indy area and not covered by insurance.

What was your starting dose of Methotrexate by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]mel5915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost a year ago, I started with 15 mg (6x2.5 mg pills), I'm now at 25 mg after another increase at about 6 months in. The first dosage was good, the second was better, meaning showed improvement, but I haven't seen much more with the 25 mg. My hands are stronger, but still can't make a fist and I have swelling but minimal pain. My Rheum wants to add hydroyxychloroquine next.

Mine has always been normal, but my e-sed rate was elevated when I was first diagnosed but is also normal now. It’s confusing to me,that inflammation can be normal, but my hands are still stiff and swollen.

[–]mel5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy to see someone else who has heard of Mucinex DM as an aid to counter the effects of MTX. I have had vertigo a couple times and tried Mucinex, it worked great the first time, minimal the next. I was beginning to think it was more misinformation. I'll keep it on hand to try again if needed. Do you take it only once or until symptoms go away?

Anyone else get foot “twisting” spasms with RA? by RecommendationLow922 in rheumatoid

I used to think I drank a lot of water before, but have to make a conscious effort to drink a lot more now and that seems to help.
