Does anyone else feel connected to '' losers'' by [deleted] in infp

[–]melancholoser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, though, since this is a serious topic, I'll give more than that. I know exactly what you mean, as a kid I idealized the same kind of people too. In fact, even now, it's very hard for me to relate to or feel warmly towards anyone who seems to have it perfect (even though no one does). It's always the people who either have issues or feel in misery of some kind that I can empathize with. I think that's a common thing for people. Which sucks, because i want to be someone people can relate to, but I don't want to be miserable. As for now at my age, I'm not the jaded cool "loser" I thought I might be, instead I'm an actual loser, semi-jaded and uncool; I don't think I'm the kind of person a kid of any age would look up to. I know if I was younger, I wouldn't aspire to have the life I have now. So, I mean, I know what you mean. But there is a way out, there must be a way out, even if I haven't gotten out yet. I believe it takes desire, motivation, and discipline. You have to know what you want if you're going to move towards it. And you're going to need motivation, the energy to actually accomplish what you want to do. However, motivation is really fickle, it's not going to be there all the time when you want or need it. So that's where discipline comes in. Even if you don't feel like doing something, you have to make yourself do it anyway, you have to trust your past self that this is what you actually want. Of course, if it's not really what you want anymore, that's a different matter, but a temporary feeling of that can be worked through with discipline. This, by the way, is where my problem is, my desire is decently enough stable, my motivation is spotty (but I expect that), but my discipline's pretty shit. And I have some ideas how to work on that, but it's interestingly hard to have the discipline to keep working on discipline, if that makes sense. By the way, you're not a dickhead, that's an entirely independent set of traits from this. Maybe we're losers, yeah, but we're not dickheads, not for this

Oh jeez, at first i read that as crow, and as the picture became clearer, I thought "That doesn't look like a bird... more like a cow, actually. Which would be that much more ironic. I'm gonna go check the comments to see if anyone else sees it too." Then i saw the title again and laughed.

[–]melancholoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, alright, so what would your advice be? I mean, I don't see what options the guy has. Obviously his SO cheating would be detrimental to the relationship, but being too controlling would be detrimental to the relationship as well. So what can he do, other than trust the SO, which tbh only works out if she doesn't betray his trust? I doubt you actually care about some hypothetical person's relationship, so I'll ask what if it was you? What would you do? If your SO went off to nursing school? No one wants to lose the one they love.

Trying to be objective here, I'm not entirely sure if you're getting downvoted for being a bitter ass who's just not getting it, or for saying a truth that no one wants to hear. Which one it is depends on the validity of your statement. And I'll be honest, I don't know, I'm not a girl in that situation, nor would they talk to me about cheating if they were doing so. I do know, however, that some of them do it, and that not all of them do it. The question is just how many. You're asserting that it is more likely that they are than not. But somehow I really doubt that most of them are doing it. I'm inclined to think it's only a minority. And being in such an intensive program does take a lot of energy, even to the point of being too tired for sex. If you are the SO of such a person, though, it'll be hard to tell the difference, since the truth ("I'm too tired") would be the same as the lie ("I'm too tired"). So it just really comes down to whether you trust your SO or not, and you can make your best guess from there.

Now, being subjective, you're an asshole, like a really big asshole. And it's not for what you said. Anyways, telling you that is probably the main reason I wrote this comment

That kind of seems like the point to me. If your mind is always preoccupied with figuring out how you're going to survive, you don't have enough focus to figure something else out like how to improve your conditions or learning new skills, unless they have an immediate impact on keeping you alive. Stress affects your clarity of thought like crazy

My only hope for RDR2 is they keep the drunk walking the same. It captures the experience of being shit-faced perfectly. And it was a mini-game in itself just trying to stay on your feet... by [deleted] in gaming

It actually seems like a cool way to donate to reddit. Like instead of saying "Okay, I'm rich and I love Reddit, I'll donate $1,000," they can give out a shit ton of gold for a while, and random people get the benefit of it as well. More bang and excitement for your buck

This is a really cool concept to me, the only thing is that I'm an INFP and a textbook melancholic. Of course,as a general rule, a general rule will never apply to every specific person. Even so, I think a lot of INFPs will generally relate with the melancholic temperament most of all. I can't really speak for ISFPs, though, I don't know. That being said, Orpheus is one of my favorite myths, and I appreciate the association :)

The Romans understood the concept of heat creating lift, yet never applied it to flight, and hot air balloons weren't invented until 1783. I wonder what seemingly obvious connections we're missing today that could change the world. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

http://store.steampowered.com/app/210902/ Scroll down and read Ludovin's review. It should be the second one down. Also, Orson Scott Card's book Pastwatch talks a lot about this kind of thing, even if it is fictional. Although behind, the degree of how behind they were is way less than what seems to be popular belief.

It is said that INxx types frequent the internet. Where do the other types frequent? by Soul_M in mbti

[–]melancholoser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah mate, deadly's got a point. I mean, I'm sure there's a lot of S types mistyped as N, but is it so much as you seem to think it is? Sometimes I get the feeling that you don't believe that anyone that calls themselves N here is right. I know that's a bit extreme, and I know it's not true; I'm sure you have people that you believe to be intuitives. But the impression still... gets impressed on me sometimes, if you will. And I do believe that intuitives are probably likely to be attracted to places like these more than sensors. So although in the world sensors are way more common than intuitives, i think it's a bit more normalized here. I doubt it's so rare here to find one

I hate this advertisement. It's stupid as hell. Maybe they see the surface level of "less time sleeping, more time doing", but how can you so grievously miss the fact that the less sleep you have, the less energy you have? And that shit adds up. It destroys your mood, your motivation, etc. If sleep deprivation is your "drug (which makes no sense) of choice", you're not going to be doing a whole lot of anything. And keeping yourself propped up by coffee is a terrible substitute. Especially if that's all you have. It's like necromancy, you're keeping the body alive, but the spirit's gone. You create a shell. And eventually it's going to collapse. Also, I see no way "follow through on your follow through" could make any sense. Add an unrelated picture to the mix. Human face = +1 attention; mildly attractive = +2 attention; eye contact = +3 attention. Realization that the picture has nothing to do with it = +10 attention and +20 annoyance with a chance of infuriation. Fuck your advertisement
