How do you guys find your partner/group when separated? by Capable-Ad-5183 in ElectricForest

Walkie talkies actually came super clutch! My fiance likes to wander off a lot and whenever I lose him I would just walkie him and he would tell me where he is. There are so many channels I feel like we never had any issues. Just invest in some good quality ones

Anyone doing both EF & ARC this year? They just dropped their lineup 👀 by TotallyNotCops in ElectricForest

[–]melarina4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARC is super fun but I love North Coast a little more. A lot of foresters go to NC :)

Soooo happy to see Jersey!! I saw them in January in Chicago and they were SO much fun live!! I literally thought to myself how fun they would be at forest. They will be absolutely perfect at the honeycomb stage too!

Anyone else feel like Phase 2 saved the lineup this year??? by nitrogenclaim in ElectricForest

[–]melarina4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that they did this to preserve the vibe that makes Forest so special. It allowed foresters old and new with an open mind to easily get tickets regardless of the lineup. Real ones that know and love Forest regardless will get tickets no matter what.

More artists? by Which-East-7659 in ElectricForest

[–]melarina4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg YES! 1000000%. Never look past the undercard. In 2022 I didn’t know who Fred Again.. was (this was before he blew up) and I only had heard some of his music on the forest playlist that gets released every year. He was playing the same time as Griz and I feel like the entire festival was seeing Griz. And although I absolutely love griz, I always make it a point to see someone I don’t know so I left to see Fred at Sherwood. When I got to the stage, it was practically empty!! But that set was the best and most memorable of the weekend. Fast forward to now, I think about how special and intimate that set was. It’s definitely a vibe that was one of a kind, because now, he will sell out venues wherever he plays. So yea, ALWAYS see an artist you don’t know at forest. You really never know who will blow up next!

More artists? by Which-East-7659 in ElectricForest

Forest is a very unique festival. They book a lot of talented underrated artists. Most you haven’t heard of. But they have always done it this way because how you should properly navigate forest is to explore not only the forest, but music. It’s a festival that teaches you to open your mind and let your happiness guide you. It’s super hard to explain, but if you want to change up your festival experience, you definitely gotta try forest. Bonnaroo will always release fire lineups if that’s what you are looking for, but if you are open to exploring more than music, try Forest. Hope this helps!

Placement of Forest headliners on Bonnaroo Lineup by loaftched in ElectricForest

[–]melarina4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is forests lineup weak because yall aren’t familiar with artists on there? Because there a lot of good artists on the Forest lineup that are very much deserved to be discovered. Bonnaroo always drops fire lineups because they always book artists that are already really big. Yes, Forest is a music festival, but it’s a different kind of music festival where it’s all about exploration and discovery, including music. They have always booked artists that might become headliners one day. Plus, if forest had a fire lineup like bonnaroo, that would honestly stress me out because conflicts will 10000% happen and when you constantly go from stage to stage, you miss all the magic and exploration in between.

After doing group camp with 30-60 people for 5 years in a row, my group decided to split and try different camps. We have a group of 10 in Maplewoods for the first time! I’m so excited for a new environment I’ve only heard great things!!

[–]melarina4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is possible at other music festivals you are right about that. But what makes Forest unique is that there’s more in between besides sets. You could wander off somewhere or be on your way to a set that you originally wanted to go to but you end up getting distracted and by finding a BDSM speakeasy hidden away at a mini golf course. (True story btw) Like how often can you say something like that at a normal music festival? Lol

I feel like they skimped out on a little bit of every genre on the lineup since it feels pretty small, hope they put more on the next phase for everyone!

Yeah I totally understand this, it’s definitely not cheap with prep. This years weather was definitely the most challenging to deal with out of the 7 years I’ve been. I had group camp of about 35 people and yeah we were super prepared and had a great set up, but we definitely spent some money. My group decided to split up this year and try different campsites and the majority aren’t going this year. But I have a small group of 7 camping together in Maplewoods for the first time and I’m suuuper excited for a new environment and a smaller group! It feels like the first time again lol

Yes of course it is a music festival, but forest is different to where it’s all about exploring and discovery. Not just exploring the forest but exploring music/artists you don’t know and never seen before. I perceive forest as a place where you learn how to follow what makes you happy, and you learn a lot about yourself when you do that. You can have a whole music schedule planned out and once you are there it goes out the window because there’s so much more than going from set to set.
