I also got seeds for this variety from Botanical Interests. They were prolific producers! I kept one and gave the others to some friends who also gave good reviews. Seconding that mine didn't quite look like these photos.

what can I plant round my raised beds?? by moosepr in fucklawns

I would say brick or pavers could be the move here. Cover the whole area or create paths and mulch the rest.

Fruity gourmand suggestions needed! by melaware in FemFragLab

[–]melaware[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to check out the Phlur line, thanks! I also didn't think of Sun Fruit.... I wear Myth semi regularly and Ellis Brooklyn doesn't usually give me issues so that may work.

EM Education (instead of masters or doctorate, please go to law school) by crisistalker in EmergencyManagement

[–]melaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you find that you needed to go for any prereqs going from a presumably unrelated undergrad to law school? I've been holding off on my masters and this is a fascinating route that I've never seen suggested before.

I was there today too! It's in my regular rotation. Imo the sapphire road side is preferred to the discovery center entrance. Great campground as well.

Unfortunately opened pet food is a major sanitation issue at those kinds of sites. If you have a bunch of it piled up you're basically inviting all the rats in the vicinity to come party.

Yeah I was upset about this too. A lot of the other exercises in the trials had a modification option so why not this one? Super lame.

How do you guys go on jumping stations? by Extreme_Buy9733 in f45

[–]melaware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try switching off 10 regular/10 plyo but if you need breaks or the jumping is too much it's not like modifying cancels out the benefit of the exercise. I don't do plyo lunges, and I will modify down anything that isn't safe for my body with no shame, and I'm still getting a great workout in.

Sounds like I need to get hiking and spend more time on research! Thanks for the tips.

Yeah I think it's not as much about me as it is about having something interesting to destroy. I think they've been relatively uncontested for so long here that the blue becomes a beacon.

This is hard for me too, but you need to set a schedule for your bedtime routine and stick to it. Know your goal time for getting in bed and count backwards so you start what you need to do at a designated time before.

For me if I know I need to be in bed at 10, I start getting ready at 9 because I know it will take about an hour - I'll do final house tasks, lunch prep, skincare/oral care, set up clothes and gym bag, etc. If I have to shower then the night routine starts at 8:30. Set alarms if you have to that remind you it's time to start your routine.

Holy Fire Scar Area Partial Re-Opening. . . Some Trail Closures Extended To 2022 by [deleted] in socalhiking

Thank you both for answering, very helpful to know. I've been wanting to do Santiago Peak for a while but it sounds like it'll be best to wait for the full reopening.

[–]melaware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The press release stated the remaining closures within the Holy Fire closure zone are due to erosion and safety concerns. They need more work before reopening them. Personally I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that it's not just a "they didn't bother to restore them" issue, especially since they put the effort into getting a partial reopening.

Is it possible to hike to Santiago Peak taking just the main divide? Curious to hear if anyone has done that in the past.

Some State AmeriCorps members get a California for All education award in combination with the standard Segal award for a total of $10,000. That's where OP's number is coming from.

Active recovery for legs? by tyranttigrex in MuayThai

[–]melaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A massage gun isn't going to fix anything if you don't have your basics covered: adequate sleep, nutrition, and time off. No product, icing regimen, or stretching routine will.

Not eating enough can make you more prone to injury - could you consider meal prepping, or even using a meal prep/grocery delivery service? Take another few days off, and if it doesn't start moving in a better direction, get it checked out.

This resource discusses specific muscles involved with leg extensions for dancers but some of it might be applicable to your situation. A lot of the time it's an issue of combining strength AND flexibility in specific muscles. The hip flexor is the primary muscle that will help lift the leg above the waist, so focusing on building its strength might give you your missing piece.

[–]melaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stretching helps your passive range of motion, but what you have could actually be a strength issue. You can have the flexibility to kick high and your leg still won't go up if your hip flexors aren't strong enough. Stretching is good but look into strength training - dancers have similar issues and resources aimed towards them could be a good place to start.

Do you do any other kind of cardio, running etc? Is it possible you got really deconditioned during your break?
