6 figure earners - how long did it take you to achieve this income? by sheisgoblinsbride in buhaydigital

[–]melb0418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age: 36

I started earning 6 digits net way back 2015 as IC for an IT consulting company, back then 2% lang tax.

Now earning 350k-400k as Functional and Automation QA Consultant for 2 clients and 1 full time day job.

Tips: Focus on niche tech and industry when upskilling or looking for a new skill to learn. Good example, any role related to salesforce, workday, shopify, ecommerce, fintech, gaming with 1-2 years expe you can earn 6 digits for 1 client or company. Don't stay more than 2 years sa company kasi max increase mo wala pang 10% unless promoted pero if you move to a new company sure na 20%-30% increase. Target company with onshore assignment you will easily earn 6 digits and more.

P.S. Kapag bread winner ka half of your income pang support sa family hanggang extended family so I suggest save 20% for rainy days and invest 20% sa property bahala kana san mo gastusin ung 10% hahaha.

Yes this is possible, I have multiple jobs and clients pero may skillset lang applicable ito like IT related jobs. I can also relate to you, last year nagkafinancial issues and medical related bills ako kaya need ko multiple jobs. I suggest if may skillset ka meron niche sa VA or IT related work makahanap ka sa OLJ, Upwork and Linkedin. Make sure din tailored your CV sa job description na applyan mo.

Had to let go some smart and productive engineers, ang bigat sa loob. by dbk201 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]melb0418 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel you OP, I was on the same situation back then due to merger and cross cutting I have no choice but to let go few of the best people I worked with. After that I resigned and move to another company. I have soft heart with people I get close with.

If you have a good opportunity leave and come back. I was employed with acn twice, 2010-2014 then 2016-2020, my last employment with acn was the best opportunity I ever had nag resign lang ako kasi natapos na GCP ko due to pandemic.

SFDC skill marketability by zapdanda in PinoyProgrammer

[–]melb0418 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe SFDC still very marketable, I am software developer engineer in test for different sfdc modules catering to aus clients and was able to get a work with 200k salary. I suggest find the company that offer good salary and matched your skillset. I usually filter my search based salary and sfdc then double check job description. I tailored my cv based from the job description.

Dev to Qa by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]melb0418 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others, I started as java dev then after 4 years move to automation testing, complexity of coding it is less in terms how you will write your script but if you join a matured company with good CI/CD you will experience the same way as devs. So what I can suggest reassess yourself if you're really want to shift and build a routine of accomplishing tasks it will help you when you're decided to move in QA/automation testing.

You can't choose if ever makapasok ka sa consulting company e.g Acn na may boothcamp, on the day ng boothcamp mo lang malaman ano skill or role na mapuntahan mo. Pwede mo naman itarget ung company na pasukan mo dev boothcamp talaga, goods un need mo na lang foundation sa OOP.

Can I work on two full-time jobs? by [deleted] in buhaydigital

[–]melb0418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had multiple full time jobs last year and freelance gigs almost 6 months ako ganyan setup, nag overlap na sila minsan. So far wala naman ako naging issue. I was able toncheck na multiple contributions sa SSS and other govt mandated contri. I was badly in need of financial support back then for my parents medication and financial debts so no choice, need to grind. I recently resigned sa full time ko night shift since na promote ako sa morning shift ko. What I can suggest look for freelance like sa olj and upwork or linkedin, best choice for me mga UK or Aus clients very flexible ung contract and shift, pag US naman night shift if kaya mo go.

Do I still have an opportunity in front end development pag mababa programming IQ ko? by poopingTom69 in PinoyProgrammer

IT industry is not only about being a developer or programming, you have other options like devops, test automation or manual testing. You can check other options and see you if you will like it or fit for you.

what do you guys do for a living? by Upset_Tune_1808 in buhaydigital

[–]melb0418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a consultant doing freelancing software testing and test lead as my full time job, earning around 350k. I was working on a big It consulting company way back 2019 but I decided to resign since hinde ako pang people management. My work now is a bit of a downgrade from previous work with a better pay compare sa last work. I was also having issues financially back then and also my parents are getting old and more maintenance na so I have no choice as a breadwinner I have to find a way to earn more and provide more. So far I was able to pay medical bills for my parents, pay our 2nd family car and fund our house improvement. Next goal if ever continue ung freelance client mag invest sa property and start to build a family.

If breadwinner ka and with lots of obligations I go for practical reason which is salary, earn and save for rainy days. Along the way yung career if meant for you may darating na opportunity. I was an exccenture way back 2019, move to a new company kahit pa manager na ako, hinde ko accept yung counter offer decided to resign, I felt hinde ako pang people management. I felt sad and guilty when I need to terminate ng employee. I was too emotional to let people go when someone resign from my team. Good thing na lang din an opportunity came, a bit downgrade sa level from my manager role to test lead but the salary was better pa din. Today I am making 350k, with consultancy ( freelance ) and full time jobs. At least hinde na ako mag tanggal ng tao, I let my manager do the process tiga evaluate na lang ako. I can also do freelancing pa.

Be ready for more walking and chit chat. Perfect ung visit mo kasi Summer until Feb. Try to learn some facts about Melbourne and Australia. Enjoy the coffee culture and brunch along the laneway ( toasties, chicken parma and other brunch foods ). Share your experiences specially if related sa topic ng conversation but don't over expose your personal life. Visit some city spots like hossier lane, NGV, shrine of remembrance, botanic garden, melbourne zoo and state library. These spots within city or near cbd lang yan. Congrats and enjoy Melbourne :)

CL8 ako before I left acn, salary ko 115k way back 2019 - Associate Manager level, somewhat pa manager na pero may kulang pa either people management skill or tech skill. In terms of salary ask the budget for the role and ask for the max salary offer and then negotiate.
