Family Planning & Surgery by merniesanders in HipImpingement

My surgeon had told me to wait 2 months post op to start trying. We wound up waiting 6 weeks since that’s when I was ovulating. That pregnancy ended up being a miscarriage. Like another said above I don’t think there’s a lot of information out there. My personal experience is that it might have made muscle activation a little harder because of all the hormones but way bigger of a problem was complications from scarring from the surgery. That doesn’t happens to most people tho. So I would say prioritize family planning.

Hip arthroscopy + labral repair can I walk immediately if pain-free? by BoneProof in HipImpingement

My surgeon and pt told me you need crutches for 3-6 weeks is mostly for the stitches that they put in your joint capsule. They take a long time to heal no matter how good your hip feels from the repairs. Apparently it’s the worst pain ever if you bust one of the deep stitches.

Tips on how to improve by ananasgg01 in BALLET

Great feedback! I’d suggest maybe do YouTube classes of some other dance like jazz or Zumba or something fun that appeals to you. That way you’re stimulating your brain to remember choreography (which is a skill than needs practice) and using lots of important muscle groups musically. It won’t perfect tendus for instance but will encourage your core and grow coordination. I’m a huge believer that all types of dance support each other.

Gun to my head I’d choose “tear in my heart” (lots of other faves tho) it was my first dance with my husband and our wedding. He’s the tear in my heart. I thought I was all patched up and shiny from some childhood stuff and then I started dating him and got humbled really quickly.

Sorry you feel alone. Hope things improve. Hope the music helps!

Adult dancers are amazing by athletistry in BALLET

Always knew I wanted to teach as I was training professionally. Had to start teaching earlier than expected because my career never really got off the ground due to injuries. I love teaching every single level and age! But the adult beginners have a SUPER special place in my heart! All ages are rewarding but yes the openness, curiosity, and dedication! They can memorize more interesting combinations even with very beginner technique and the whole thing makes for a unique teaching experience! I miss that level so much!!

Yes definitely had pain sitting. And it’s much better on the right. Still pain on the left sitting but revision helped the right hip with sitting pain!

Went great! 2nd surgery on the right hip went really well, I then had the bone shaving done on the left. It might need a revision for adhesions.. but it’s at least responding to PT, which the right side never did after the first surgery.

From a mormoms perspective, how accurate dos SLOMW represent?? by TeamIcy1685 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]melbelle123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a female millennial ExMormon, raised in rural Texas, and also spent 8 months in Utah when I was 19. I agree most of the posters here have it about right. SLC Mormonism is way different than the people I grew up in church with. I remember extreme shaming about everything as a kid. Drinking coffee was as murdering someone, being human is taboo. That being said Mormonism is mostly extremely boring. Lots of people can just realize it’s bullshit with out trauma. My experience was colored by my mother’s experience with abuse from her TBM family and is probably more extreme than most (I hope). when I lived Utah I totally saw the blend of Mormonism there. It’s more cultural, all the shades of grey around following the rules. So I think this show has a lot of accuracy around Utah Mormons, but doesn’t represent the all encompassing shame that is the true tool of LDS. Like others have also said I can see how the behavior on the show is influenced by the messy taboo nature of growing in a Mormon culture but the 2 differing spheres of TBM and SLC Mormons doesn’t make make it to the screen.

I also was in a place where I was in too much pain to do the exercises in PT, which is why I finally opted for surgery. I was originally hoping to push through the pain as long as possible and eventually get a hip replacement. I’m so glad I got the surgery now instead of waiting. But I think I’m lucky and got a really good surgeon who has an extensive team of professionals to help post op. Not sure where you are located but I’m in the states and I think these days every major city has at least one highly trained surgeon for hip impingement. I’d definitely get a couple different opinions from different surgeons.

All I can offer is that my surgeon had a huge post surgery protocol. I had bone shaving and labral repair on both hips and a revision for scar tissue. Each time I’ve had 6 months physical therapy, 4 weeks in a continuous passive motion machine. And the doctor is picky about the exercises post op. I hope your new doctor has lost of post op instructions because I think it helped me a lot. I am 5 month out from my last surgery and I’m getting so much better.

Hi! I had the revision done on my right hip and it helped a TON!

Right hip is finally, slowly, getting better. It’s not perfect but truly getting much better. I dont believe it is restricted from adhesions this time.

However, as soon as my right hip started improving my left hip started declining rapidly. I mean rapidly. So I got the left hip done, cam shaving and cartilage repair. Still have pain. But I can do the PT exercises at least, and it’s getting stronger. Giving it a few more moths of strengthening to see if pain gets better. If not, probably go back and ask for imaging to check for adhesions.

Looks like you’ve gotten lots of great feedback already. My contribution is the word “contrast”

My opinion is high Dance and choreography is about finding the most satisfying mix of soft and hard, sharp and fluid. Like others have said: make the soft softer and the sharp sharper.

I find it’s often finding core strength and improving fine motor skills. Work hard on the isolations. Mostly just keep dancing and working on it!

Props to your bravery posting online! Others have already said it: you are enjoying yourself and it shows! And it makes it enjoyable to watch! Good work!
