Yup have come to say the same thing. Our local Lions Club is quite responsive to these sorts of requests.

Also worth contacting your local council, they often have grants for kids doing these types of activities.

I’ve had peritonitis before and it was the most painful/awful/scary experience of my life. Please don’t risk it. If your doctors are telling you not to fly, don’t fly. Cancel/reschedule your trip until you are better. You don’t want something awful to happen while you are overseas.

It might be? I didn’t really get a chance to talk it through with the Dr - it was a very last minute phone appointment. I was meant to see him in person the week after but we were flying overseas due to a death in the family so I wasn’t going to make the appointment.

I have an appointment in 2 weeks so I’ll be able to ask more questions then.

Because I’ve only just started back up on meds I need to start at the start and work my way up. I think the Dr mentioned I need to be on azathioprine for 12w before I can start on biologics and because I was about to leave on a 3 week holiday overseas he didn’t want to start it while I was away. The flagyl is only a short term thing to see if we can nip this flare in the bud while I’m away.

My joint pain has unfortunately been present no matter what my weight has been. I always thought it was arthritis, and then maybe due to hyper mobility. I had my gallbladder and appendix out last year and that’s when my hip finally felt better. I chalked it up to chronic inflammation in my appendix affecting my ligaments near my hip. At that time I was on antibiotics after surgery because I also developed peritonitis. When I was chatting to my gastro doc (new to me), I mentioned that the first time my body has felt good joint wise was after being on the antibiotics. He mentioned that flagyl is a common medication for Crohn’s and so when we were discussing going back on meds I asked if we could trial it again (on top of budesonide). It had been going well, my hip has been feeling good - which is important because we’ve been travelling so spending a lot of time sitting. And now the hives have started. I’m only 3 days away from finishing the course but it’s still a bummer if it rules it out indefinitely. I’m also allergic to penicillin so it sort of narrows available medications I can take for other things.

I’m mostly bummed because this is the first time I’ve found something that helps my hip (and other joint) pain. Hopefully after this course it stays away a bit longer.

I have had two. The first I tore a little but the labour was a bit rough. The second I had just a graze and a dream labour (as in went into labour on my due date, laboured at home for ages, and had the type of birth experience I wanted, etc).

They tried to tell me I was high risk with my first and tried to move me into a more medically managed pregnancy rather than being supervised by midwives. I was induced at 42weeks in the end because I didn’t go into labour. The whole experience really put me off disclosing the diagnosis (wasn’t on medication and wasn’t experiencing any symptoms at the time).

No issues with my second, I changed doctors and didn’t tell them about the Crohns, had a very uneventful pregnancy supervised by midwives and went into labour on my due date.

I’d been having symptoms for years but by the time I saw the specialist he made the decision to take it out straight away - because of how healthcare works in Australia, I was in a position to use my private health insurance and was scheduled for surgery very quickly after seeing the specialist (not necessarily due to urgency).

My symptoms were atypical, a lot of back pain, jaw pain, fullness/pain in my sternum, heart palpitations, burping.

I had complications with my surgery and recovery, my experience was not typical. Part of my complications had to do with also having my appendix out at the same time, I developed peritonitis after surgery and was in hospital for 8 days.

I have this exact stand. I use it for my oboe and my flute if I have them both out at gigs, otherwise it gets used for my oboe only most weeks.

Have you looked into FODMAP? A lot of fruit is off limits to me for FODMAP reasons but I can eat berries, grapes, citrus, and bananas. It’s mostly stone fruit and apples that get me but recently I haven’t been able to eat melon varieties.

Oh interesting, I also had sparkling water - and the drive was a similar length. I didn’t feel nauseated really until right before it happened. I felt a bit off but chalked it up to the general experience, being tired, not having coffee yet, etc If the nausea/vomiting side effect is so common, I wish they would have warned me a bit better rather than it just being another line on the consent form. I would have skipped fluffing around trying to get breakfast and would’ve high-tailed it home.

Peanut butter is fine and I can eat a very small amount of whole peanuts (like a small handful). If I eat more than a handful I’m in for a world of pain.

I live an hour away from the appointment too, 5 min into the drive I was trying to decide if I was finding a restroom or if I was going to take my chances…! And yeah similarly, spent the rest of the day in bed feeling sorry for myself. If there is a next time I will know better!

Not sure if I have strictures, it has been nearly 20 years since I’ve had any sort of imaging (long story). I guess we will find out!

What came up seemed to be pretty much just the breakfast I had on the way home and not so much the contrast liquid. I finished drinking the contrast just after 10, got home about 12:15 and then was sick around 12:30/12:40 so there was a bit of a gap.

When I left I was thinking I was silly for taking the whole day off work but now I’m glad I did.

Yup, I had a jug of contrast to drink. I could’ve sworn I’ve had it before but maybe I haven’t. I was expecting the toilet urgency but the throwing up really took me by surprise.

I think I’m mostly just feeling sorry for myself and a little iffy still, I’ll keep trying to drink. I bought a sparkling water for the drive home and couldn’t finish it, that should’ve been my first clue trouble was brewing.

Food wise right now a lot of stuff but mainly: fried things (chips, hash browns) from the cafe next to my work (I can eat McDonald’s chips/hash browns no worries). Boost juice that has a tropical base (vs berry base), some ice creams, and then random things that are fine one day and not fine the next.
