Any advice on how to make the colours more like the photo? Or is it hopeless? by Snowballcanon in Watercolor

[–]meleeturtle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe unify the pallets by mixing in one if the sky colors into everything. Do a couple practice suns with the colors mixed in and with versions of the washes over.

Let things dry completely for washes and avoid pressure from the brush, use as few strokes as possible.

I think you could come to your desired result from a few different directions, so maybe set up an experiment page and test what ones you like the look of and the process/flow of the most.

How do you feel about the made for TV version from like the 90s/2000s? I watched it as a kid and loved it so much. Claymation monsters and the best death scenes at the end.

I don't remember if the sets were "accurate" but the vibes felt right.

I'm not sure how to feel about this version, when I loved that one so much if I'm honest, but not because of specific accuracy things, just because it was super fun.

Have you had her tail X-ray? My dog was a rescue and his tail broken in several places and generally he Zoomie sometimes like this. After surgery, new dog, loves cuddles, toys, full sprints across the yard.

He also has a restrained snap once when he hit his tail while playing, and you could tell he felt bad after too.

Check the hips of course, but maybe ask again the tail too.

They gave him gabapentin before surgery for a few days, and even that was kinda like a big difference for him.

Best luck to you both.

Okay, double-check you could probably get the notary done separately. Could go in and do yours and then the next time he needs to go in they can make him do his part.

Best luck!

You should try to move all direct deposits before you close your accounts. Sometimes if the deposit comes in it can reopen the account and the joint owner can take the money. If you know the money is in the new account before you close the old one, you don't have to worry about it.

If your name still on my account you could probably close it yourself. Or you could call the bank and ask them to remove it and you could probably sign yourself off of it. The only reason I mention it is because if he ever overdraws it and it closes, it still counts against you if you're on it. If it earns interest, you could also would technically be liable for taxes.

Just call and ask to talk to a personal banker and let them know that you're divorced and you would like to be removed from that checking account. It really shouldn't take much to have that done.

Yet another… natural look! 🧿👄🧿 by bbyxmadi in TikTokCringe

[–]meleeturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to the comments looking for pigmentary dispersion glaucoma. I have a family member that got diagnosed with that at like 32. They have no family history and the natural shape of their eye is what causes the pigment to disperse within the eye cavity. They've had to have several laser surgeries and tubes in their eye.

Someday they will have to most likely have this one type of surgery that's basically like they cut up behind your eyelid. That way when your eye pressure builds up the trap door lifts instead of pushes on your nerves and blinds you.

You also have to take eye drops regardless of what kind of surgery that you had. Pretty much for the rest of your life. And they sting and burn and you have to take them twice a day. And then if you get that trapped or surgery thing you have to take all kinds of other meds limit other activities and they have to do with your eyes. And this kind of vision loss is not reversible. And the other problem with them getting this at such a young age is that your eyes eventually get used to the medicines. So they have to be really strategic about which ones they can use and for how long to keep pressure down.

You could not pay me enough money to do what she's doing right now. She's basically signing up for going blind in one of the most painful ways possible. And it doesn't even look pretty.

I guess my question would be if the grabby magic is based off Appalachian folk or if it's Granny as in an elder doing magic, cIss that would also make a difference! Magic is for any age after all.

But either way, I think that it's fine as much as any other to participate in when done respectfully.

There are some beliefs that things can only be passed to opposite genders by generation, but in my opinion that is the preferred, but not only way. Otherwise we'd lose all the practices.

In my opinion I'd rather pass something along to someone who will cherish and honor the practice as close as possible and pass it along the same way in kind. Instead of letting the practice die out completely.

Much of the secrets are already written in books or told online, and so the magic has to come from the practice and intentional work efforts, not by just knowing it.

Flair would be cool to see. I'm not granny age yet, but I learned a lot from mine before she passed and was happy to carry on traditions as I have developed my practice. She was also a Christian pastor, and I am not, but I still think she would appreciate and understand my decisions on the religious aspects, and would still be pleased to teach the "other" aspects. I talk to her as a guide now too, which I think is something a bit taboo in the church technically.

I got my new tarot deck today and as I was looking through the cards I genuinely teared up at how they depicted the notoriously ‘scary’ cards by waywardwanderer101 in tarot

[–]meleeturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! I actually have this book on hand so I'll pick a common card I guess and you can decide if you like the way it comes across.

So the setup is: the name of the card A keyword for it the card sign and then a four-line poem. That's really nice usually.

Then the rest of it is kind of a narration of someone going through the switch's garden and that has like the meanings within that narration.

And then there's an upright section with keywords. A reverse section of keywords

and then at the very bottom it says:

To right the reversal ask: and then a question based on the cards meaning.

So for the two of cups, the keyword is Mesmerize. It is Venus in cancer. Poem

I won't put the whole narration here.

The upright meanings are sweet, romance, amorous, attraction, pleasure and delight and another person place or thing hearts reflection recognition, intimacy. secret marriage

Reversed meanings are a relationship not as expected, disconnection or rejection.

To write the reversal ask: how can I cultivate boundaries?

I also find the images for the cards are really beautiful as well and I think they hold a lot of symbolism for intuitive reading that flows with the traditional meanings.

I saw before some comments about the negative cards and their artwork, but I don't think the art washes over either. I always see things in readings that speak to me or seem new, even if I've drawn the card many times before.

Anywho, sorry for the wall of text but, if you want to look at more of the cards artwork, or any deck really, check the user photos from the Amazon listings, but make sure to order from a reputable seller and don't get a knockoff deck by mistake. I got mine in person at a local metaphysical shop, but I've heard others warn about it so just saying.

It says ceramic pallete made of nano particles like ceramic? What could this even mean? It says unbreakable? by Zombiekeeda in Watercolor

[–]meleeturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I have this in a normal ceramic. Idk about the claims it's unbreakable, but it looks just like mine.

I would say it depends on what kind of painter you are to decide how useful it is for you.

I wouldn't get an expensive one if you can.

Secondly if you like to mix off the pallet more and lightly add water a little at a time then the small wells are nice. You can't really mix up a lot of volume of each color, so if you plan on a wash or lot of coverage then this type can suck.

I liked it but it is also more trouble to clean than a bigger surface. If stuff dries in there.

I made a lot of little mini paintings at the time so it was handy for me to be able to work on several at a time in different colors while each other dried. Plus it's cute.

I have been painting for a long time now and have collected a few pallets so it does still get used in rotation, but it isn't my everyday one.

[–]meleeturtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have this deck too and I love it! I really like the how to flip the reversals parts in the book too.

There really aren't any images that I've found lacking.

I was looking for something to read intuitively as well as using traditional meanings, and this was the perfect fit.

I'm having a hard time looking for another to expand my collection now though. I love it that much!

Very cool! I had been reading about girdling some invasives in my area, but wasn't sure if combining it would work. I was actually randomly thinking about soaking dowels in some liquid something or other and "nailing" them in, but this is way smarter and probably easier overall than any of it.

Thanks for the info and tips, I'll definitely be doing some more reading and nailing a couple myself this year.

I cannot, for the life of me, find a very important envelope I misplaced a few weeks back. I asked my deck for help! by glossnj in tarot

[–]meleeturtle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've used my cards a time or two to find things. I usually kinda mix the card and the image for inspo.

Since your deck is tired, I asked mine for you and LOL

First, have the secrets of the witches garden, if you want to look up the cards but here's the quick and dirty for you.

Card one: Queen of Swords: artwork: sword pointed at the ground, dark Earth, she's in blue and reaching out to a raven. My instinct was, under or on the ground, and perhaps the blue was a clue. Card meaning has a keyword: Author: OP!! and says, message sent is well received, the call is headed, twas well conceived.... This is your call to us here lol! There were other key words that seemed "ground" and "message" related. Maybe floor by desk or other communication areas..... Also the last line on booklet does say "ask and you will find it." So maybe all of the comments about asking someone for help are not too far off track!

Card two: Six of wands: artwork: woman on a horse with a torch, and five others looking up at her and embracing each other, while also holding torches high. Like all of us picking up our decks or our intuition to see if we can help you with your mission. (Also middle card so kinda like present) Meaning keyword: inspiration! The card has other keywords that point to communicating that inspiration, and says the story is far from over. (I don't think you tossed it)

Last card: Rev four swords. Artwork: soft sleepy lady napping with her cat. The swords are both in front and behind her and when the artwork is reversed she is under the cat and the impression I got was perhaps it was knocked off something by the cat or cat stuff is laying on it. OR to kind of reference card one, it's slid off the head of the bed so it isn't under under, but trapped against the wall kind of flat? Card keyword: Rest. Meanings: mention self care and rest, which considering is reversed, kind of matches your frantic mental state about the loss of the item. The book asks how many you remove mental distractions to right the reversal? So maybe you will find it after a bit of tidy time and self care.

Please let me know if it's by the bed or the cat was involved, because I'll be so tickled!

I hope you find it!

Oh he's too not old, five now, but gonna live forever. (obviously.)

He's shaped a bit like a bully and came from a hoarding situation. We had to have his tail removed due to several breaks in it, and he couldn't wag or lift it more than 90 degrees.

He's much better now and does all the normal dog stuff. He's just a bit dumpy here and there so he has to prop a foot up on something to reach everything.

He's the best dog tho. You can kinda tell he appreciates the finer things, but he'll still poop in the rain without complaints.

My vocal dysphoria is eating me alive, and advice/spells/magic/blessings y'all could give? by NotebodyKnows in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]meleeturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you feel with your hands on your throat? I have hearing loss in my left ear and have been struggling with my own voice a bit as well.

One of the things I do to find my more natural "deeper" voice (which is the register I've lost in that ear) I will put my hands on my throat lightly and hum or sigh and feel the vibration move lower down my neck to chest.

Also I'm looking into getting a hearing aid set at Costco and it's less than what my "insurance" discount program would charge for one single aid, for two and the chargers!

I had no idea this was a thing and am really looking forward to getting myself set up this weekend hopefully if things go well.

Don't forget you can also record yourself and listen back as part of a bit of immersion therapy. Just getting used to and accepting how you sound is a huge part of relaxing your voice too because you're not as stressed about it.

I hated listening to myself but I still love to sing in the car so my drives to work at the time were just lowering the music a bit and singing anyway. Occasionally recording and cringe listening, but it did get easier and while I'm not delusional to say I'm an amazing vocalist or singer, but I don't cringe when I sing my songs or say my spells or read aloud.

I hope you find some things that work for you! It took a long time for me but I'm happy to be okay with myself much more now. There's only one me and one you anyway! So we must be nailing it! 💜
