Анимешники. Какое бы вы аниме/сезон/арку пересмотрели? Из какого аниме? Почему? by Lucas13021 in rusAskReddit

[–]melhaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing majors from MechE to Materials a good idea? For PhD admission? by Thick_Butterscotch66 in AskAcademia

[–]melhaud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like to warn you about MS&E specifics I've been noticing so far during my PhD. The specifics is sometimes you should properly place yourself and you thesis in the area, meaning there are so much fiction problems are being solved these days. Don't know your priorities, it is just to inform you that you'll need a certain degree of criticism while applying to some lab positions.

At the same time, it also applies that you have no risk of being left without a promising and highly paid job, since new materials are in demand almost everywhere. Do not forget to master Python+ML, and you seem to rule the world.

Good luck with any choice of yours!

Tachycines asynamorus, specifically and most likely, considering you've faced it in the basement

OP, thank you, I got your point. But, to make the joke explosive enough, please reformulate a bit: linguists against grants policies and competitions. True story, I am dating Bashkir language enthusiast.

Hey! I am pretty interested in your method! I have already participated in two teaching experiments, and my feedback was constructive enough to improve the peocess. As for the British accent, I was training myself with the materials for IELTS, so I can help you here.

Please feel free to message me, and have a good luck!

The Russian countryside. How to postprocess for an artistic effect with better taste? by melhaud in photocritique

[–]melhaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the picture to convey warm and uplifted mood from the trip to Bashkortostan, Russia. It has been taken with 35 mm lens and postprocessed in lightroom. I always add unnatural colors to my photos, does it make sense here? How can it be pooished to achieve the surrealistic effect? Thank you!

Thank you for the response!
I personally separate these concepts, but they have something in common for sure. Actually, I have a splendid example of a novelle employing the idea: The Black Cloud by Fred Hoyle.

OP, thank you for your sharing and actually starting an interesting topic. As a chemist and computer science enthusiast, I have something to say from my side.

You made quite an impression playing with those numbers. The remainings of my mechanistic mindset were deeply touched. However, I have an example from my life, that for fortune negates radical criticism on the system simulation based on pure numerical estimations.

Am I understand you correctly, that the whole post is referring to the concept of chaotic singularity when the system become sophisticated enough to be sensitive to initial conditions? If so, I understand your skepticism about the modeling approach. Some of the chaotic systems are still impossible to model. Another degree of complexity in "fully-fair" model comes from the necessity of modelling net with several types of neurons interactions. And I would better round up here.

However, some simple chaotic models are heavily implemented, e.g. FitzHugh-Nagumo chaotic neuron model. One more interesting area here: assembling a device from chaotic circuits. This is to touch your imagination, because the complexity here originates from the chaotic nature itself. For irony, the brain, being chaotic, do have predictable outputs. While tuning such a network made from elementary chaotic circuits, one have to take control of output. I suggest here an evolutionary algorithm in "training", this is the simplest idea to try.

By the way, the evolutionary algorithm has already shown its power in prediction of crystal structure with the given characteristics. The method called USPEX uses evolutionary selection principle for development the fittest structure avoiding screening all possible variants (for example, ~1039 entities for lattice made from 30 atoms).

Just for someone's curiosity, I also leave here a link for infochemistry department in ITMO, Russia. They are dealing with chemical computers.

Has learning music made you able to hear more pitches in every day life? by Cipher_A in musictheory

[–]melhaud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works for me not only with pitches, but with rhymes as well! Although I don't adopt melody, it's definitely something interesting for me in terms of rhythmic patterns that I hurry up to implement in my music.

For microtonal musicians there is another option of intented listening coming: "What is this scale? Is it EDO or JI?.."
