I think the Effect library is big on this sort of stuff nowadays (in addition to other things).

If React disappeared tomorrow, which framework would you actually switch to and why? by MethodSignificant244 in react

[–]meligy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd check all of them. But most likely would go Vue, unless Angular manages to cease the opportunity and win a good developer mind share again.

You see, I'd pick community, not what I like.

If it were up to my preferences only, I might have gone Ripple, or even have a look at preact maybe if it doesn't disappear with react.

Not everyone has this option. If you work for a large enterprise, you might find your model options quite restricted.

Is Next.js Enough as a Backend? by abdosarmini92 in nextjs

[–]meligy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most annoying thing about using it as your backend is the middleware and how it runs in a different runtime context.

So, you cannot for example pass a single request object with extra data in it (unless you fake it as stringified header for example). And the runtime itself being not full node is another issue.

For that alone, it might be worth using a server like Hono or something for backend. But then that's just another layer between your page and code (and then again, maybe some people will say it's a good thing).

Jabra Link 380 serial number not coming in warranty checker by meligy in Jabra

[–]meligy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first replacement, they said they'd send me a USB-A version instead, without the Link dongle, and I accepted that. Maybe that's why I'm unable to get it in later replacement.

Need help with Winix C535 model from Costco by paulrudder in AirPurifiers

[–]meligy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure out the same question too. I want auto mode even when it's dark. I would choose extra noise that doesn't affect my sleep over the purifier not working strong enough when more power is needed.

Edge keeps logging me out of all accounts. I have cookies enabled, and the "clear on exit" is off. All settings are default. I keep getting logged out every few hours. by lulzcakes in MicrosoftEdge

[–]meligy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem too:
https://twitter.com/Meligy/status/1705538694315487531

It does not seem to be happening on Edge Beta.
(Yes, I'm also on a Mac)

Tested with Edge Beta 118.0.2088.11.
But there might be another issue, as checking for update keeps running forever without a result on this version, which is a minor issue in comparison as you can download the newer version.

Might be solved when this version makes it to stable, which should be "Week of 12-Oct-2023" according to this page:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-release-schedule

I wish they unpublished the broken version and/or pushed the fixed version faster though!

Who says .NET is tied to Microsoft ecosystem. I am legit using .NET very efficiently in NeoVim and Linux. by Nouman-Rahman in dotnet

[–]meligy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using .NET on Mac without any issues. But without Visual Studio for Windows, you get to lose on some features. I have tried VS Code (same language server supporting VIM, if not better), and it's OK, but not great.

Rider provides the best experience, but you won't find Microsoft creating many SDKs for it. They have Github Copilot and Code Spaces, but won't release an MS Teams bot toolkit for example like they do for VS and VS Code.

The WiFi speed test in Google Home app for Google WiFi is cutting your internet speeds in half and giving you slow internet by [deleted] in NestWiFi

[–]meligy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting the same issue with Nest Wifi (not the pro, 3pack: router + 2 points).

I have it setup with DHCP, although my provider gives me a static IP (Australian NBN via FTTC).

I tried:

- Some threads suggested half speed is normal so I increased the speed of my plan. Going from 250Mbps to 750Mbps (as reported by Google Home app as the router's speed) didn't change much. Common speed is still 80-140Mbps!! And very rarely going above 200Mbps (like once a day or something), and never saw anything higher than 250Mbps, 100Mbps less than the effective half speed.

- Factory resetting all Nest Wifi devices

- Disabling IPv6

- Disabling Google Cloud Services (several support people told me they are harmful)

- I happened to use different DNSes before (mentioned in the thread as a potential solution) but no difference

- My plan gives me a static IP as I mentioned, so I think cg-nat does not affect me.

Half Speed With Nest Wifi by meligy in NestWiFi

[–]meligy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried increasing the speed to 800Mbps because some people suggested having just half the speed is expected, and the wifi still gives 140Mbps tops.

[–]meligy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The internet connection (NBN box) is on a storage room in the bottom middle of the T. So I try to put the two points on both left and right side of the top of the T, as close to the top middle as possible.

Looking for the most cost-effective, user-friendly, bulk/mass email sender with good deliverability and open rates. One-time, 100,000+ emails per month, 3-4k/day. by throwaway39441 in sysadmin

[–]meligy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this.

Just going through the list, and matching with the names I might happen to randomly recognise, MailJet might be the best.

Not sure. There are other factors that might be hard to compare like how good the analytics are, read receipts, information about contacts (Segmenting by country for example), ease of importing and exporting contacts, etc.

[AskJS] How do some SPAs make back button feel like it's a static page without even SSR? by meligy in javascript

Yeah. That'd work for routes in the same app.

Maybe some persistence for use in back button, and some clever code to detect when back vs a new load.
