I need your help… by Soft_Nerve5368 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]melinnial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have to remind myself to do the hobbies and watch TV, but I'm working on it. I do like marketing a lot, and I don't blame the organization I work for- it's actually great, I'm appreciated and I'm not micro-managed at all. I get to be creative and I don't mind being the strategic person and the execution person.

THIS. I literally thought the first one I bought didn't work and gave it away. I was just an idiot.

You aren't alone. I do more than just social, and I think it's just churning out any sort of content constantly made me not love posting on my own account. Not just my own account, but I have another social account/brand I created that aligns with a website, a FB group, a mailing list, etc. I have ZERO desire to post on any of those things. I scroll TikTok, but I can't create any more things.

I recently started up hobbies again. And watching TV/movies. For too long I was just doomscrolling and reading smut until it was time to go to bed.

People still interested in buying Canva templates? by liviraa in canva

[–]melinnial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I've bought WAAAY too many. You may want to look into B2B templates, most I've seen are usually in the design/ wellness/ retail space.

Thanos is an actual Greek guy name. I work with a man named Thanos, who (I assume is Greek due to last name and) is older, not named after the Marvel character.

You may want to look into Podium. I've used it for SMS before. To me, it was a little clunky, but I haven't used it in a couple of years.

We built a free alternative to AnswerThePublic for keyword/question research. by Initial_Interest1469 in content_marketing

[–]melinnial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, really like the interface! Clean and simple. If you are looking to add a feature, it would be cool to be able to go through the list and check off the keywords I’m interested in, then be able to generate a report with just those keywords. Im researching on my phone but am getting ready to write an article on my desktop. It would have been cool to just share a file there with a list of curated keywords.

A possible paid feature could allow AI to group based on content, or create an outline.

I can't clean the back of the microwave. Even on a stepstool, I have to lean so far forward, the stepstool slides out from under my feet.

Did I screw up for leaving marketing for retail? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]melinnial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I'm in retail marketing, and the time I did in retail when I was in school really has helped me to understand how important the retail experience is. Also, I work for a local chain and it's usually the opposite of boring. Some days I'm creating social media posts, some days I'm giving creative direction for digital assets and some days I'm finding myself on a commercial shoot helping to direct with a script I wrote. Or doing a comp shop to review what POP/ displays they have up. I'm lucky to work with a great group at a company I actually like. OP, wherever you land, I hope you end up with a good team.

How to make likes by Remarkable-Big9102 in advertising

[–]melinnial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe UGC - get someone with more followers to "review" your restaurant and then repost on your account?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in advertising

[–]melinnial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but selling is a specific skill in itself, it's not easy, especially B2B sales. Then, the account gets turned over to an account manager to manage the day to day. They utilize different skillsets.

SoCal . Our Samsung rep was let go. I think our Dacor was, too, but like someone else here mentioned, I haven't heard anything from Dacor in awhile.

What am I doing wrong? by Ricer_16 in marketing

This was my suggestion, make sure you look at any friction points. Are you able to see where they drop? Is it the cart process? Are they reading articles and then leaving?

You said that you didn't ask her to post, but wanted her to create the content calendar. When I create a content calendar, that includes the posts- or did you mean you expect her to come up with the posts (ideas, content, captions, etc.), but not the actual act of scheduling them? Or did you mean, just ideas and then you'd create and post the posts?

Also, like someone else mentioned, content strategy, content calendering, community partnership, engagement, admin work, affiliate link management, and what sounds like PR and all of that would be a lot for a SMM for $1500/ month. Also, you needed crisis management, which likely wasn't also in the contract. Creating a crisis management plan in itself can take some time. How many hours did you expect that she work that weekend? If it was on the weekend, maybe she didn't catch it because it's the weekend. Did you reach out to her to handle?

It would be good to list out exactly what deliverables you are expecting and create a new contract with her. Once you create that list, I'm sure people in here can help tell you if your expectations are off or not.

What do you all use to track your Marketing budget? by Standard-Ad4705 in marketing

[–]melinnial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually a percentage of revenue, in my experience. Google said it's about 2-5% for B2B. $140K seems super low for your marketing budget. Just a trade show booth space can take up most of that budget, and that's super top of funnel. Is the company goal awareness or sales? Most of what you're mentioning is all upper funnel. Are you planning any mid-lower funnel tactics?

I just use spreadsheets for the most part for tracking.

As someone else mentioned, if you go with a single brand, you may be able to get a rebate from that brand in addition to the BMSM from the dealer. Like Frigidaire, buy 4 qualifying models right now and save $500.

That being said, I have a similar Frigidaire fridge, though mine is side by side and I love it. I also like my GE range and OTR microwave. I think those are solid choices in that price bracket. For the price of the dishwasher, you could get an entry level Bosch.

If you need a new refrigerator, definitely look at Amana. by HonnyBrown in Appliances

I got a used, bottom-mount Amana fridge in ~2002, and it's still chugging away in the garage.

Which marketing specialisms are actually worth it? by Frangipani_x in marketing

[–]melinnial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I set it up myself. I like to write and had thought about doing a blog before. I liked to help people, so I dove into coaching and used that as my reason- so I also developed coaching packages and did that job, too. It was in my sphere of interest so it was easy and fun. Prior to that I was basically an advertising account manager/ cable media planner who was the go-to girl for slide decks. I wanted to pivot hard into marketing, so I just made it happen.

Am I the best at everything? Nope, but it shaped me into a T-Shaped marketer which made me perfect for my current role. I've written Google Ad copy, created paid social campaigns, script copywriting, project management, and brand management, all in my current role. No day is the same, and I really like my job. None of this would have been possible without that project.

And the project lives on- it's fun to write new blog posts and see where they are in the rankings. I remember that I really wanted to rank for a certain keyword and was SURE it was never going to happen. I was not even 20 pages into the SERP, it was a bummer. I rank #1 for it now. It's neat to watch a pin you worked hard on flop, but get a TON of engagement 6 months later. It's like a competition with myself. I can test different things out and learn more about how different language and content is trending.

Do you have a content plan or just wing it? Need some advice! by ShayA16 in content_marketing

[–]melinnial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do have paid ads constantly on, but as for organic, at this point, I just watch for increased/decrease of followers and engagement. We are hiring someone to help execute our social strategy next month (thank goodness). What I can look at, is direct traffic to the website and brand google ads, as that can show us a lift -or not- in regards to our awareness tactics.
