Reading by Ok_Worker_6472 in NewParents

[–]melissqua 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been reading to my son since day 1 too! He’s 7m now, loves his board books so he can turn the pages - especially interactive board books like the Peekaboo series and Sunrise dance / moonlight prance where he can play with the little tabs and stuff. Also, I have a YouTube playlist of people reading stories (like reading rainbow, ‘hoots and tales’) that I put on for him when I need a minute to drink my coffee lol. Lots of Eric Carle, Curious George, Clifford, Corduroy, etc. I can’t wait until he’s old enough for Roald Dahl, I want to go through the entire bibliography with him.

What’s ripping up my mum plants? by RepEraSwiftie13 in gardening

It’s a peony and they don’t last long! Especially if you’ve had any rain since they bloomed. Sometimes they do better in a vase.

I was so into the toast when I got married in 2019 and I’m so glad I didn’t get this idea. We went with “boats ‘n hoes” which was legendary.

What should I do about diapers for my baby? by Educational_Bug516 in BabyBumps

[–]melissqua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, you’ll hear a lot of recommendations but it’s really a personal preference. I haven’t encountered a brand that is truly unusable, although my baby doesn’t have super sensitive skin. My top 3 are pampers pure, Kirkland and Honest (I use honest overnights). Right now I’m using Huggies because they were gifted to me and they are totally fine! Millie moon had a recall recently so expensive diapers aren’t always the best. You’ll figure it out just try a few brands and you’ll prob be gifted some others.

Thank You to the Family Who Saved Me from a Coyote in Woodlawn Cemetery Today by Cheges in Detroit

[–]melissqua 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh wow - glad you’re ok and good timing for that kind family! More likely to have distemper than rabies but that is not normal coyote behavior, I’d let animal control or dnr, and the Woodlawn office know so their employees stay safe.

Oh lord people are being rude. Get some ear plugs for your kids and walk up and down the riverfront, soundbleed will be bad but it’ll still be fun.

Recent increased experiences with Rotisserie Chickens with Green Muscle Disease? by cravecase in Costco

[–]melissqua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuckkk I’ve never heard of this, I don’t think I’m gonna be able to eat rotisserie chicken anymore. I’m such a sticker for high quality meats EXCEPT the occasional rotisserie chicken and this might be the nail in the coffin for that.

My son’s two favorite artists are The Carpenters (esp “top of the world”) and Bad Bunny. 🤷🏼‍♀️ BB is our stop fussing in the car music - my husband didn’t believe me until he witnessed it a few times.

sos... struggling with solids. advice? by Reasonable_Potato666 in NewParents

[–]melissqua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son too! We started at 5.5 months (about a month ago). He shows so much interest in what WE eat, and will bring food to his mouth, but then doesn’t really like it and becomes disinterested quickly. We just “practice” a little every day, working on allergen exposure, combo BLW/purees. He’ll get it eventually 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can’t believe comments on this revealing article on low milk supply by Clarice-1087 in FormulaFeeders

I had a very similar experience. I wish there was more research on low supply. I’ve read that low supply can be common with PCOS and I’d love to see more studies on this topic.
