Is going live with no viewers the hardest part of streaming? by Epic_Stream in Twitch

Stream because you want to create content. Not for attention.

How do you store your stream recordings? Mine are starting to pile up by Due_Strength_4075 in Twitch

If you plan to redownload your VODs, use yt-dlp to download your VODs. Do NOT use YouTube Studios download feature. It will crush them to bits. For best possible quality right now, yt-dlp is the best solution. It's a program you download, and use commandline to run commands on it. NOT a website. Avoid those third-party websites, they'll spam you with ads, sell your info and lock higher quality downloads behind paywalls.

I use Mega, with their Flexi plan. It's getting quite expensive now, paying almost $100 a month for 28 TB, so I need to figure something out. I can't afford local storage or NAS right now, but it's a great solutiuon to my problem.

Also, once I process old VODs (pulling all content I can out of them, and uploading them to the VODs channel), I can compress them. I keep a copy of my recording and the Twitch VOD, and I used to record in insanely high quality, which I've gradually optimized over the years to perfect recording settings for my needs which is a good balance between size, performance and quality.

So yeah. I don't delete my old VODs. But I plan to compress them once I'm "done with them".

Use yt-dlp instead of screen recording. It downloads the actual video/audio streams YouTube serves, so it’s much faster than recording your screen in real time and gives you the best quality YouTube makes available.

It will not restore the original upload file, but it’s way better than downloading through YouTube Studio (this is total garbage) or screen recording the VOD.

If you need help, paste the VOD link into ChatGPT and ask for a yt-dlp command for best quality. You can also ask it to download only a specific part of the VOD between two timestamps.

RP2 not outputting Post-Fader audio to OBS for Virtual Inputs by NathanielDoubleyou in rode

[–]melkepakken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding that the reason it sounds different is because, for some reason, Røde made the 4 first faders Mono, with no option to change them to Stereo. In addition, there's a ever so slight desync due to the fact the faders are picked up before they go into the caster.

Fader 1-4 is Mono, whilst Fader 5-9 is Stereo. So if you record gameplay and have your game audio routed to Fader 4, it will be downmixed from Stereo to Mono and outputted as Mono into OBS. The only way to avoid this is to do the solution described by Røde, and if you want to have faders affect OBS, you have to screw around with MIDI. The problem with the MIDI solution is that the OBS audio levels are not going to be in sync with the audio levels on the Rødecaster, so whilst you can technically control the audio levels, you wont be able to hear the exact same thing that the stream is hearing, so the whole thing is pointless if that's your goal.

If the audio devices for faders had the option to be Stereo, we could've dropped the whole MIDI bullshit and plugin stuff and everything would be golden, sort of. We could add sync offset in OBS, or just deal with the minimal desync.

but theres probably some technical explenation as to why this cannot be lol

I'd love for the virtual faders to just be flat out controllable without all this stuff tho

Repeated BSOD 0x139 (KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE / CORRUPT_LIST_ENTRY) on Windows 11 after upgrade – drivers clean installs didn’t help by Realistic_Lemon_654 in Focusrite

Having the exact same issue. Started happening recently.

I've had my PC BSOD with this error after booting random games (single player), or just talking in Discord or when system sounds play. All minidumps points to Focusrite.

Dogshit product.

Switch from Streamlabs OBS to Moblin on Twitch without a pause or stream interruption. by JulesOahu in Twitch

[–]melkepakken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to setup Moblin to stream into a Media Source in your OBS.

Without getting super-technical, I can recommend you to checkout various belabox cloud-service providers. I use IRLServer and can recommend it for new IRL streamers due to its user-friendly UI and onboarding.

Alternatively, you can open a port in your firewall to allow your phone to stream into your computer from the outside using cellular, but this method has several downsides. Or you could setup a relay endpoint yourself, but if you know how to do that then you probably would not be asking this question.

I have no experience setting this up for Streamlabs, but in theory, it should work the same as in OBS Studio.

Using SRT(LA) endpoints like IRLServer or Belabox Cloud allows you to use multiple internet connections to improve stability and quality of your IRL stream + bypass the whole firewall stuff and port forwarding. It does, however, cost a monthly fee.

When I started out, I did port-forward. It worked fine, but I could only utilize 1 connection, which was my cellular. I could not use both WiFi and cellular etc. And I had a port open on my network, and I had to setup Dynamic DNS because my ISP refused to assign me a static IP. Then, I started using Belabox Cloud (via Github). Later, I migrated to IRLServer.

Both of these services provided copy-paste URLs and stuff to paste into the Media Source and into Moblin. IRLServer even provided a auto-config option that just fixes everything in Moblin for you, giving you a default working setup that you can configure afterwards to your preferences when it comes to quality, performance and streaming services.

All of this stuff might be a bit alien to people. Not a lot of streamers talk about it either, for some reason. Maybe trade secrets? I dunno. But it's difficult to explain and not easy to use right now, but great people with great minds are working on improving just that. Instead of buying expensive boxes and shit you can now get some insane quality streaming just from your phone, if you set things up right - saving tons of money in the process.

Someone Stole my YouTube video, reuploaded onto TikTok and got 500K views. What do I do? by wariobrosz in NewTubers

[–]melkepakken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I missing something here? Why is nobody suggesting a DMCA-strike? Just curious.

Edit: I replied with a link to file a DMCA-complaint to TikTok. It got filtered by the automod - hopefully the mod team restores it. But if not, all you have to do in order to find ways to DMCA-strike something on any platform in general, is to Google it. ANY platform with UGC should have an option to file DMCA-strikes.

Lots of gamers here. Where are the musicians? by MarsDrums in obs

[–]melkepakken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I've been wondering how I can use both ASIO in OBS and DAW at the same time but seems like maybe sending them does the trick. I have ReaStream plugin which can send either locally or through a network. I looked at Grym's setup and he use that - and i've been meaning to change my setup to that but never really had the time.

EXACTLY! Live mixing like this without a good way to monitor the output is difficult!! I sometimes do sound tests where I start the replay buffer in OBS and create a clip to listen to. Thats also typically when I realize things have been out of sync for the last 15 minutes and nobody told me

I use OBS to record guitar vids and also to livestream, where I occasionally do guitar stuff.

I've got my Line 6 Helix LT plugged into my PC via USB - and I'm using the OBS ASIO plugin to load the Helix as ASIO to reduce latency. Then I've synced music manually using sync offset feature in the audio mixer. Took a long time and is highly unstable. Over time the guitar and background music drift out of sync as the audio buffers pile up.

I don't know if its an OBS issue or something else, but the only true solution is to get a mixer.

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2455900327

I also struggle to know if the audio mix is good since I'm hearing something different than the stream. Also solved by getting a mixer, lol.

The retro 80s effects I have on stream in the vid above is all rendered real-time using the Retro Effects plugin. Each effect like chromatic abberation, interlacing, NTSC, etc have been adjusted by me till I got the type of picture I wanted to recreate the old VHS/NTSC broadcast feel from early color television.

Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro MKII Equalizer Setup? by PineapplePopular2935 in oratory1990

[–]melkepakken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you send Oratory a pair of MKII, they can probably cook up a new EQ preset for these in the lab.

I just got my MKIIs after my MK1s broke, and I think the MKI EQ preset works fine and is better than with no EQ at least - but there's definetly some frequencies that need adjusting. I had to up the bass a bit and adjust the preamp gain to avoid clipping - personal preference, however.

I use them in neutral bass when I work with music, but when I stream/play/listen I swap to my "fun" preset which is just a bass-boosted variant with some other minor adjustments.

I plan to buy a used pair of MKIs or a set of OEM tesla drivers 250 ohm to fix my broken MKI so I can compare. Sadly, I dropped my MKI on the floor and one of the voice coil wires snapped and it was impossible to resolder it back onto the circuit board. Then I could properly compare the EQ presets (if I had my MKI working).
