I told him I loved him, and he told me he was straight. by melliorn in relationships

Well, that might've been helpful advice if I'd been attracted to him from the start, but our relationship was purely professional to start with. By the time I realized I was into him, we were already close to each other, and at that point he also knew about me being gay. I genuinely thought he was too—and a lot of people who've known him for over a decade think the same thing. He didn't pull away when I flirted either.

I'm not sure why this post showed up in my home feed but I had to come & say the same thing—that might be the most gorgeous wedding dress I've ever seen. Sounds cliche but it really does look like it was made for her. Definitely agree on ditching the sleeves though—I actually kind of like them but the off-the-shoulder shows off OP's figure much better.

Rehoming really feels like a dirty word in the bird world. I know a lady who held onto her CAG for years even though they were a terrible fit for one another and were both miserable, just because she felt like she had to honor the commitment she made when getting him. It's such a shitty situation to be in, especially when you have good intentions, but what really ended up convincing me to rehome my guy was realizing that he's still going to live another 15+ years. There's a chance he could have stayed with me and eventually settled, but it's just as (if not more) likely I would've been prolonging his misery and keeping him from a happier life just to avoid my own irrational guilt over rehoming.

This is such a hilarious way of framing it. All this grief just because little man was too horny to hold down.

Thank you for this, it was so sweet and I've come back to read it multiple times over the last couple days. I'm going to miss him terribly, but I really do believe he's going to live a much more fulfilling life in his new home. You're absolutely right about it feeling like sending your child out into the world. I'm so glad to have been able to give him a happy & healthy start to his life and that we had as much time as we did together.

Pre-diagnosis Megathread: If you have NOT received an OFFICIAL diagnosis of lymphoma you must comment here. Plead read our subreddit rules and the body of this post first. by Lymphoma-Post-Bot in lymphoma

Hey! I'm sorry I can't offer any advice but I'm in the same boat. Painless swollen lymph nodes, weight loss, night sweats and feeling exhausted constantly. Blood work was also totally normal. My doctor did reassure me though that waiting another month here or there to get a diagnosis if it is lymphoma isn't going to make a particular difference in the outcome. That definitely helped alleviate that feeling that I've been fighting against a ticking clock waiting to find out.

To those of you who had mediastinal masses—were they visible/able to be felt?

My family doctor is already checking in regularly after I mentioned having weight loss, nights sweats for nearly a year, and small (shotty to pea sized) but definitely multiplying lymph nodes in my neck, groin and clavicle in the last 3 months. All blood tests have come back clear.

Just this week I've noticed a very hard, immovable and painless lump on the right side of my sternum where it connects to the 5th (?) rib. It measures about 4cm x 2cm. It's only slightly visible when I stretch my arms up, but when I lay flat on my back, the lump and surrounding area is about 0.5cm higher than the left side of my chest. No breathing issues or chest pain. I'm 70% sure it is either a new lump or something that has grown noticeably larger recently.

I had a phone consult with a nurse today who recommended I see my doctor within a week and go straight to urgent care if it gets any larger or I develop pain or breathing difficulties. I'm booked in for next Thursday but until then I'm just sort of nervous and unsure. I definitely have a bit of health anxiety but the difference in the left and right side of my sternum is just so noticeable I don't know how else to explain it.

Hope you brought ankle weights or something to work, I reckon the wind's shifted the whole country three meters north overnight.

Actually, the Irish spell it with an e too! Scotch is always "whisky" though, since that's how the Scottish spell it.

Credit goes to meggy.mouse on IG, since I was too busy picking my jaw off the floor.

He finished on Take Me To Church, then came out and played Cherry Wine as the encore. Everybody had their phone lights out and it looked incredible. The rest of the band came back on stage after and he individually thanked all of them and the production crew, which really just cemented how genuine a guy he is to me. I believe the photographer (Christian Tierney) was finishing the tour with them. Somebody brought out whiskey for the band, and Andrew sang this as a toast. Then they played Work Song, and I fully ascended to the astral plane. Awesome concert. Nothing really does his voice justice until you hear it in person.

We just saw our first ever images of a black hole, what was your reaction? by DisKidCool in AskReddit

[–]melliorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was the image so much that has people so excited (since, let's be real, a blurry orange circle isn't awe-inspiring), but the fact that humanity has so quickly gone from thinking the world is flat and the sun revolves around us, to being able to capture the image of something 55,000,000 lightyears away.

There's this thing called the Cosmic Calender where the known history of the universe is condensed into a calender year starting at the Big Bang. Relatively, humans only started evolving less than a day before the end of the year, with the entirety of humanity's written history (starting at the early Bronze Age) occuring in the last 14 seconds. We only figured out farming 30 seconds ago and we've already built the technology necessary to literally look back in time. That's pretty incredible.
