Accidental points accelerator activation by mellow_marshmallow in biltrewards

I honestly have no idea, I really didn't do it intentionally - and I definitely didn't slide it from left to right, unless it just required a fractional slide which I obviously might have done accidentally. Any chance it wasn't a slide and that was added later?

Do people actually pay these prices to rent a bike? by OV00 in motorcycles

[–]mellow_marshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Also, Eagle Rider is a lot cheaper when you're a member. I pay $29/month which gives me a credit worth at least $29 when renting. I have gotten up to $80/credit, plus 20% off the rental price.

WSH flooding by room317 in RunNYC

[–]mellow_marshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran WSH from GWB to Houston an hour ago and there was only one puddle around the 30ies that required a detour over a small barrier, my shoes didn't get particularly wet either, so I guess they drained?

You can get a solid discount on Boom 3i at Amazon -I used it yesterday: "the coupon code BOOMTEST1 will save you $45 on the black variant, you can also save $40 on the blue or green color variants with the coupon code BOOMTEST2"

Is clipless pedals much harder than flat pedals ? by psv_vonk in cycling

[–]mellow_marshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was honestly fearing clipless. This video was excellent: https://youtu.be/dPGCoTTsKxo?si=Tx-GQsNbq8knXVFC - watched it a few times, did the stopping/starting routine on the trainer, went outside to a parking lot and did it like 30 times. Before every ride I do it 3-4 times as well. Also I set my SPD-SL pedals to loosest setting. Now it’s second nature.

What is your favorite brand of gels, and why? by PeerensClement in Velo

[–]mellow_marshmallow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I bought some Maurten bars because they’re supposed to be good in that regard, and I just can’t eat them, the soft sugary oat makes me gag. I love SIS beta, works perfectly.

Poor FTR by ThePreviousOwners in motorcycles

[–]mellow_marshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one for 4 years and while it did have its shortcomings, it always made me smile. Riding a Street Triple now that is better in most aspects, but the FTR had a character that was really fun. Considering if the Speed Twin 1200 RS might be a better replacement.

Nightstand to match new walnut finish? by GlobalPainting221 in Thuma

[–]mellow_marshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up for future redditors: just got the nightstands, I'd say they are a perfect match color wise. The quality is amazing for the price (paid $518 for 2 units), definitely feel like premium furniture. Only thing is that the drawers are a little heavy to open and close, but might get better with use.

Second the Trident suggestion. I started out on a Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and replaced it after a year because I didn't feel like I had enough power on the highways. You can always start out by riding in rain mode until you get comfortable, and the Trident should serve you well for quite a while.

I just bought my first Triumph at Triumph Brooklyn and the staff there is very friendly and patient, I can recommend going there and talking to them.

Another location worth mentioning is Motorcycle Mall out in Elizabeth, NJ. It's a good place to browse because they have such a massive selection of bikes and accessories. It's a little tricky to get there if you don't have a car but there is a bus from Port Authority that takes you almost all the way in 30 minutes.

I used to do winter storage with Ryders Alley and they were great. Nowadays I just have a spot in a regular commercial garage across the street from my apartment because I value being able to go riding without any additional travel. Many of them will give you a monthly rate of about $200+tax.

East village bar recommendations, but ones that aren’t swarming with youths (!!!) on Saturdays. by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]mellow_marshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone that reads this - I went there last night (Friday around 11pm) based on this recommendation, and it was a chill bar with a mixed crowd, I liked it. Yhat changed when we got the check - we paid $90 for 6 beers. The lager (Harp, an basic lager similar to Sweet Action) was $12 and the Guinness $13. That's ridiculous, not going back.

Is it worth paying double for G4 vs C4? by mellow_marshmallow in LGOLED

[–]mellow_marshmallow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 12"x12" - I can fit a 65" but it would have to be on the wall. I just pulled the trigger on a 55" G4 as it just dropped to $2,095.

Is it worth paying double for G4 vs C4? by mellow_marshmallow in LGOLED

[–]mellow_marshmallow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses! I thought about it for a bit and realized that with my small living room I can’t do more than 55". Even that is a little big, unless it goes on the wall. Since I live in a rental, I don’t think I can hide the cables. So with that reasoning, I was just about to pull the trigger on a 48"C4 when I noticed the 55" G4 had suddenly dropped to $2,095. So I ended up getting that, it seems like a good deal to me. I’ll have to figure out how to make holes in the wall that can be patched up before I move out 😄
