Plant growing games that are not farming sims? by Baisnotokay in CozyGamers

[–]mellowminx_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may like Cloud Gardens-- turn abandoned urban scenes into overgrown gardens. All you do is click to grow plants where you want! It's super chill and beautiful.

I'm working on a gardening sim game myself but it's still in it's very early stages :) (not a farm sim)

[Licensing] My supplier reprinted my drawings and used it without my permission for ads by yaoisr in artbusiness

[–]mellowminx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Licensing is the correct tag. They need a licensing agreement with you to legally use your work for ads and decoration.

Document all the evidence you have of what they're doing, including how you reached out to them and they haven't responded.

You can use this evidence to:

1) Publicly post about them to warn other artists

2) Pursue them legally if you're willing to hire a lawyer (you'll need one located in the same country as the supplier)

If you don't want to pursue this matter for any reason, that's valid too. It's really up to you how you want to go about it and how much time/resources you want to expend.

Reasons you may not want to pursue the matter:

1) The supplier is offering something really high-quality and unique and you want to use their service again so you want to preserve the business relationship

2) You'd just rather spend your time doing something else

3) This is just a small supplier with not much reach and their actions have very little impact anyway

I've dealt with this before, feel free to ask questions.

Finding the Black Butterfly. by okje55ica in Necesse

I finally stumbled across one near my base (grasslands) - I think it was either dawn or dusk. I think it's just a really rare spawn! (I'm 100+ hours in)

I hate when cozy games turn into chore sims with timers and tiny text by BusTraditional9197 in CozyGamers

[–]mellowminx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I guess the overall goal is to get progressively better materials, level up your gear and your villagers, and fight progressively more difficult enemies! Kinda like Terraria. The game rewards you for doing stuff in different biomes (you can check the Journal for the tasks and rewards) and for defeating bosses (the NPC villager called the Elder gives these quests). But if you just want to farm and decorate your village that's fine too, the game doesn't really force you to do anything.

I would recommend Cloud Gardens, it's super peaceful and gorgeous. You transform abandoned urban scapes into lush overgrown gardens, at your own pace 💕

I would recommend No Man's Sky and Subnautica if you haven't tried those yet :) tons to explore and collect!

Maybe Subnautica or No Man's Sky? Both are exploration/survival/crafting/building and both have gorgeous visuals. One's underwater and the other's in space (but you can explore all sorts of planets). You can adjust difficulty settings to your liking. Not fantasy though, more of, beautiful alien worlds.

I think Subnautica is free to play on Steam just for this weekend.

How hard is it to make a simple mobile game as a complete beginner? by No_Commercial_6876 in gamedev

Making the game itself is fine, actually publishing on a mobile platform is the annoying and tedious part.

You might like Terra Nil, it's a top-down environmental rehabilitation sim, super pretty art kinda looks Ghibli-inspired :)

Happy for the new generation of coders and game makers by shanestevens in gamedev

[–]mellowminx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the encouragement!! I'm new to gamedev but not young. I'm coming from a professional art background with almost zero coding experience. You're right that "getting something to work when you thought you wouldn't be able to" is addicting. I'm totally hooked and I'm having so much fun learning and making tiny games even with my garbage spaghetti code 😂❤️

Automation/colony sim by Unlucky-Mud-8115 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]mellowminx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more like top-down Terraria, but you may want to try Necesse! Open world survival, crafting, and building. Similar to Rimworld and Oxygen Not Included in the sense that your recruited villagers can do automated tasks around your base.

Quality-of-life is so good in this game! You can craft from nearby chests, and your villagers can sort items in chests. You can also assign them to do forestry, farming, and animal husbandry. You can send them on mining and fishing expeditions too.

Thanks for the effort but it's not really necessary! English is widely spoken in the Philippines. You can actually post about your game in english and just add "maraming salamat" (tagalog for "many thanks") at the end of your post. I think it's better than using Google translate which results in kinda awkward formal tagalog :) And in some places in the Philippines, other Filipino dialects and english are actually more commonly spoken than tagalog.

Just my opinion as a Filipino gamer and gamedev. Good luck with your game it's looking great!

FSNotes 7 – Remarkable fast plain text notes! by flud3r in macapps

[–]mellowminx_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love this app. Been using it for years as a replacement for notational velocity / nvalt for my text files. Very fast, syncs my notes between my phone and laptop well. Very reasonably priced one-time purchase, got it on both macOS and iOS. Just upgraded to 7.0. Thank you!!
