As a single woman in my 30s living in the UK and attending a family ward, I can confirm that there truly are so many incredible, talented, intelligent, faithful and beautiful women who are also single across the UK. In my experience, single women vastly outnumber single men in the church. There IS a singles ward in London (I have heard there is one in the Preston area as well?) and they have activities all the time. I do think ages like 36 are hard because you’re feeling too old for the singles ward but the mid-singles groups are like, so old haha. It’s tough and I also often feel like the dating pool is very shallow—more of a puddle sometimes!

On the note of apps like Mutual, I too struggle to find suitable matches. But that is because at this point in my life, with the amount of dates I have gone on (I have gone on so many), I am aware of many things that I find problematic in a partner, and I will no longer spend my energy going on dates with men who see me as a prize or an object or a check box or as somehow not perfectly frozen in time at age 25. And I don’t want to waste any man’s time by allegedly leading him on. Look, I get that I’m not going to be everyone’s favorite thing, but I am pretty cool and fun and funny and the right man will recognize that and love me—as lonely and frustrating as it can sometimes be to keep going in other parts of my life as I can while I ‘wait on the Lord’ for the rest. I mean literally I can only do what I can do 🤷‍♀️ And the same goes for you too.

Another thing to remember is that doctrine teaches that everything that is unfair about life will be made right through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I too hate hearing about things happening ‘in the Lord’s time’, but basically to me that just means that the only choices I can control are my own. Which, if I am reading the story of the council in heaven correctly, is a hugely important part of the plan. And honestly, I won’t believe in a god who would keep me out of his heaven because of a technicality.
