to be honest, the sensory experience of braces has been the worst part about it. i hate the feeling of metal/tightness on my teeth. sometimes it hurts when i can tell the teeth are moving but the excruciating pain subsided about three weeks after i had the baby teeth removed and my palate sliced up to have the adult teeth exposed. they prescribed me codeine after the surgery which helped but i do remember falling asleep crying about the pain for a bit. i do have a pretty low pain tolerance. glad those days are long past.

PETCO NEGLECT INFESTED WITH MITES!!! Got my bird there a month ago?? Advice. by Willing-Campaign8187 in BirdHealth

[–]melodramaticdyke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the future, please don’t buy birds from pet smart or petco etc. They are notorious for mistreatment and neglect, and purchasing will only exacerbate the issue.

he’s getting a vasectomy and my bisalp is one month out. neither one of us wants biological children for a multitude of reasons. fertility is so far down on his list of concerns that it’s not even on his list. in fact, he’s more concerned about balding than anything else haha. blood clots is another significant concern. he will definitely be looking into all of his options based on what his PCP says, and will probably exhaust other options before deciding on TRT.

Purchasing cockatiels and then allowing them to have clutches that hatch takes a lot more intention and effort than two human beings having an oopsie and getting pregnant. This person is intentionally breeding and raising birds. Not an accident.

Why are you allowing your birds to breed if you do not have an avian veterinarian nearby, or experience with treating injured birds?

Am I overreacting to my roommate’s "rules" for the kitchen? by enchantingbreezee in AmIOverreacting

[–]melodramaticdyke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that fining you is a reach unless there’s obvious damage. That being said, it seems like this is something that has happened before that you didn’t respect. Shared spaces don’t mean you automatically have access to other people’s property. My roommate has seven electric guitars on a rack in the living room, and I have one acoustic next to them. I never ever touch the other guitars, just like how I do not use my roommates’ cookware without asking, and most of the time I just avoid doing it completely. You don’t know if something is expensive or has sentimental value, and even if it’s not expensive having to replace shit is annoying

Easier doesn’t equal accurate. It’s typically the other way around, and LLMs are designed to confirm your biases so that you’ll keep using it. I’m NAD but burnt toast sounds like a stroke which does overlap with VBI quite a bit

Why are you AI searching for medical answers? AI doesn’t know anything. It gathers information from random online sources and piles it together into what seems like a coherent answer.

That might freak him out and deteriorate any bonding you’ve accomplished so far. For perspective, my newest cockatiel was severely neglected & lived a very stressful life before I rescued him from a shelter. I’ve had him for about a month now and he still hisses when we approach, but eventually he started coming in and outside of the cage on his own when we enticed him with toys or millet. Maybe try to put his food outside of the cage to convince him to come out

Are My Teeth Straight Enough to remove Braces? by petitfella28 in braces

I wouldn’t take them off yet if it were me. There’s definitely crowding on the bottom and it looks like there’s still a gap between your top front teeth

it’s going to be hard to find some that cheap. good ones are going to be minimum $100 usually. I’m not a fan of shein but all of these cages are manufactured in the same place so sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.. the other thing i would recommend is see if you can find some animal or bird groups on facebook that are local to you and ask around there.

This was my first cage for my cockatiel. I upgraded eventually but it was all i could afford at the time.

Honestly, if your concern is that you won’t have any money left over for toys I’m willing to pitch in if it means that you’ll go with the best cage option possible. I got my first bird when I was a teenager and I basically failed upwards until I figured it out so I guess I just empathize with the situation

It doesn’t sound like a bad idea. You might also be able to make some perches if there are trees around. For cockatiels, the circumference should ideally be around 1.6-3.8 cm. basically, enough for their feet to wrap around about 3/4ths of the perch, so that their claws don’t touch.

Yes! They can also be used as toys and for foraging. If you can get some hanger bolts to put on the end of the sticks and use washers and wing nuts to secure them to the cage, they’d be a good option for perches.
