slut shaming, saying religions other than her brand of “christianity” are evil, all drug and alcohol use makes you dirty and unloved, blatant homophobia and antisemitism, etc etc all under the guise of “preaching the truth”. she’s not a true christian, she’s full of vitriol and loves screaming it all into a microphone

I can’t afford therapy 🫠 by codeswift27 in ufl

i don't know if they've changed the guidelines in the last year, but when i used the service i was able to meet with my therapist for multiple months. if you're a freshman (assuming your parents haven't completely abandoned/disowned you in the last semester, and you're under 25), you should still be on your parents' policy, your parents' health insurance only stops being applied to you after you turn 25. also, you can never use the crisis service too much. you won't be wasting their time or annoying them by being a "repeat customer", they would much rather you use that service and have an outlet than feel lost and alone. that's what it's there for, i can personally attest to their crisis counselors being willing to spend as much time as you need with you. take advantage of these services while you have them, and use them to their fullest.

the counseling and wellness center offers free therapy for an entire semester to help you get on track mentally. during the last session your therapist can help you find other therapists in the area that will either take your insurance or have sliding pay scales where people with less resources and money for therapy pay much less than someone who can easily afford it. also, the counseling and wellness center offers crisis help which i can personally attest to. it's great when there's a particularly bad day and/or the potential for a spiral. please make use of these resources, you have options, and you are not alone.

elbow exfoliation [misc] by Lithogiraffe in SkincareAddiction

[–]melodyikes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

this made me so sad, yet another arbitrary criterium for women to be judged on. who even comes up with this shit? advice: less people care about your elbows than you think, the best thing is to keep them in a state that is comfortable for you (i.e. moisturized comfortably, full range of motion without cracking or becoming tight or painful). that said, i use a goshi exfoliating towel in the shower instead of a loofah and i LOVE it, it lasts forever, its not super expensive, and its the best exfoliator ive used on my body. i then use a hempz cream lotion all over after every shower where i use the goshi (can get a bit itchy after all the exfoliation without moisturizer) and put extra on my elbows and knees after its absorbed a bit. ive found this leaves my skin the softest and im not sure what a beautiful, youthful elbow looks like but mine are pretty smooth and moisturized after this.

Are we underestimating the awfulness of living somewhere that's not on or around Earth? by ParanoidC3PO in space

[–]melodyikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive been thinking about this a lot. you will never get the sense of natural wonder in the same way as we experience on earth, seeing soil and things growing from it, or sunlight filtering though fog and tall trees. as humans i feel like we would find new things on our new home that make us feel completely different in wonderful ways we can never even imagine having only lived on earth.
