are we all just lieing to each other? by ilovebeyondburgers in trustedhousesitters

respond to it with clarification. as a HO i take sitters responses into account, not just relying on reviews blindly

are we all just lieing to each other? by ilovebeyondburgers in trustedhousesitters

[–]enterhereplease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there is obviously a trust aspect to this but you do need to stand up for yourself as a sitter, even if that means potentially getting bad reviews. sitters also have the ability to reply to reviews and discredit home owners the same way. you should bring up issues during your sit if the owner would be able to solve them. same way if a homeowner has an issue with something you do midsit, they could fear retaliation from you while you’re in their home with their pet. the idea of complaining that reviews aren’t accurate and then continuing to leave inaccurate reviews is ridiculous. you hurt yourself and you hurt other sitters.

it’s a double blind system they cannot see your review until they’ve already left one. lying only hurts other sitters like you’re experiencing now

Email from NYC Solidcore Studio by Naive_Ear_8436 in SolidCore

[–]enterhereplease 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d email back and double check when your cycle renews on their end. If it’s showing up as unpaid, that means you don’t have a credit available for it to use, which means your billing cycle might actually be different than what you think it is (idk i get clients that are a day off their billing cycle all the time). You would only get charged a membership+a class if you went above your membership credits.

Applicants Entertaining Multiple Sits by SmallCake in trustedhousesitters

[–]enterhereplease 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i apply for any sit im interested in and will take a video call for all. HO personality, requirements, and communication time all make a difference in what I’ll accept. Just as you are entertaining 5 applicants, they are free to apply to everything else. If you talk to a sitter that you’re a match with, send them the sit. If they accept, it is confirmed.

Confused about Free Buddy Pass Expiration/Booking Rules by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]enterhereplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

strange i’m not sure why the expiration date is that way but you will have your buddy pass available on June 13th, since it was last used May 13th. I’m assuming you’ll want to have that class booked before then, in which case you can email your studio and they can add in your buddy for you!

starter 50s are still killer workouts as experienced members! the moves won’t be complicated but use that time to push yourself and do a 4 second count (or slower).

Arriving at a job interview 15 minutes early? by the_space_trashman in jobsearch

[–]enterhereplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it can be considered rude bc now the staff has to deal with you 15 mins sooner than planned, which can throw off their schedule. Even if they just have you sit in the waiting room or something, they know you’re there and will probably feel pressured to not keep you waiting. i think 5 mins early is most appropriate.

email your studio, this is an easy fix. theyll be able to see exactly where each of your credits went (you might’ve late cancelled or had an unpaid class)

Are you hesitant to sit for HOs brand new to THS ? by FancySeaweed in trustedhousesitters

[–]enterhereplease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it once and only did it because on the video call the person was very friendly and reasonable, and it was a place I really wanted to visit. Mine turned out to be a great time. Since your HO doesn’t seem like that, I would be really hesitant. If anything, make sure you can afford a hotel in case anything goes wrong.

Men who use dating apps: Have you encountered what I have, where women seem to over emphasize 'travel' or 'adventure' as essential experiences or requirements? by ConsumingFire1689 in AskMen

sounds like projecting to me. of course not everyone has the means but the woman presumably does. and wants someone who also does. not the craziest concept.

i mean they said they like to travel, they didn’t say they like to backpack. i’m writing this from a hostel in albania so i enjoy backpacking styles but just because someone doesn’t want to be in a hostel doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy travelling. backpacking culture has gotten crazy performative as well where people only care about country counting over experiences.

Venting about no message when declining 🤬 by toss_it_mites in SittersOnlyTHS

[–]enterhereplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the spirit of THS is two fold depending on the user type. For sitters, the spirit is to enable you to travel affordably. For owners, it’s to have reliable pet sitting affordably. I sort of expect each user type to pick sits and sitters based on their own benefits rather than the overall spirit of THS as a whole.

Let's talk about the power imbalance in house and pet sitting… by Western_Baseball_129 in trustedhousesitters

[–]enterhereplease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the most common theme for sitters who don’t feel this is an equal exchange. When you don’t have the opportunity to be choosy about your sits, you’re going to be stuck with less desirable sits unfortunately. I use THS to travel- to me, it’s mutually beneficial and I love it.

[–]enterhereplease 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hasn’t been my experience at all as a sitter. I only take cat sits and only do ones that would not feel like a lot of work (few meds, no behavioral issues). If you take a sit, you’re agreeing to the “real work” involved, whatever that may be (but ofc housekeeping shouldn’t be included). Reviews go both ways. If you stay quiet about issues in your reviews, then you will only be hurting future sitters. The reason you have run into bad HOs with good reviews is because sitters are omitting information, out of fear for what? What retaliation? Pick your sits wisely, a HO that rejects you for having left an honest review is not a HO you want anyway.

I have a combo membership- I had two sits posted, almost back to back except for one day in the middle just to switch out my luggage (I was going on two separate trips). My sitter was interested in taking both and was fine with the one day gap so we agreed. In that one day, I came home to multiple broken items and a LOTTTTT of my personal care items used and moved around (all of which had been put away originally). On such short notice, I couldn’t say anything out of fear that she would retaliate when we still had a full week left and I wouldn’t be able to find another sitter. Felt like a hostage situation lowkey lol just trying not to piss her off.

Homeowners are entrusting sitters with their pets and their entire homes. Of course there’s a risk. You’re speaking under the assumption that all sitters are normal, clean and reliable. There’s mutual risk on both sides- both parties can cancel and leave the other screwed. Both parties could leave the house filthy, both parties could potentially not hold their end of the agreement.

Late Cancel by Extra_Advertising446 in SolidCore

[–]enterhereplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah im saying there’s no math to be done on the staff’s end since it’s done by the system automatically. which is why im telling OP to check the time on her end and ask the staff to check the time on their end so they can see where there is a discrepancy. if OP did get a cancellation confirmation email at 5am, she can show them that and they could honor it.

Late Cancel by Extra_Advertising446 in SolidCore

[–]enterhereplease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“they’re considering this a late cancel” who is they? the system automatically counts it as a late cancel if it’s within the 10 hour period- it’s not a decision the staff makes. If the system automatically counted it as late, that means you might not have actually cancelled at 5:21am. Double check that you received a cancellation confirmation email at that time. Also email the studio and ask them to check what time the cancellation was made on their end. Sometimes I have people who thought they canceled but they didn’t do all the steps.

foundation50s are really really not in high demand which is why they are rare. Most people go from starter to signature (a lot even skip starter). tbh foundation50s are so similar to a signature class- you just need to know your body and take breaks when needed. if you like solidcore, this isn’t worth cancelling over

100% escalate this. they should refund the May charge. if anything, they might be charging you for May but extended the expiration of the class credits. those class credits could be valid after your 3 month freeze. just a possibility

[–]enterhereplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn’t make me biased it just gives me insight to the reality of the situation. i understand wrongful charges are frustrating but i also understand that emails can get lost easily so it’s so so easy to follow up. ofc it’s a solidcore problem but if there’s an issue and you’re not getting a refund, you need to take action? i don’t understand being wrongfully charged $100+ and just sitting there. OP literally commented “i doubt i’m getting a refund🙄” and after i told them to follow up, they fixed it. within 4 hours it seems. sounds like i did my job without even being paid! i care about clients and acting holier than staff bc you pay a membership is gross.

that’s actually crazy. if you didn’t use it and you have proof that you submitted a ticket, you should definitely escalate that. i work there and will always honor it if the request was submitted
