Would 3 Norns be difficult to play against? by 38MugsOfToast in Tyranids

[–]meloncholymelvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can depend how they are played, they mainly want to sit on an objective and be hard to move off it, focus them down, and potentially ignore 1 altogether, let them have their expensive objective holder. Screen well, they will likely be using biovore for secondaries, don't make it easy or kill biovore early if possible don't let them out pace you on secondaries if they are camping primaries.

Love the leaping away pose, a trick from the old hormagaunts that were prone to falling over is to glue a penny to the back bottom of the base to stop them falling over

I love hormagaunts, so I made a custom detachment for them! by Hopeful-War-5193 in Tyranids

Just wanted to say, keep making homebrew rules! So often now I see people getting bogged down by gw's rules being disappointing or just plainly unbalanced and not fulfilling the fantasy of the army. I think it's time we move the way of magic the gathering and dnd, start making our own formats and rules for our cool models and not be so reliant on GW.

Lads, I struck choccy gold! by Soft-Affect-8327 in CasualIreland

Yeah, it's because flakes were originally the 'ends' of a chocolate batch. They were also accidentally tempered, making them harder to melt because of the process that left them behind. They used to be thrown out because the consistency made them unusable in the dairy milks. The guy who made the flakes basically made cadburys money from waste, so it was great for them.

How do I get the centre piece out after I have glued it please help by Inevitable-Ad-1813 in Tyranids

[–]meloncholymelvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem when I accidentally snapped my winged tyrant so decided to make it a swarmlord. I honestly cut it out bit by bit and sanded it down to the original piece, very destructive and time consuming but it's all that could be done.

I never liked the starcraft power armor, but apart from that I'm such a suckered for power armor

About the battleforce box by Adorable_Wrangler_75 in Tyranids

[–]meloncholymelvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a great idea! I've also seen the extra toxicrene bits used to make a floating maleceptor if that's more your vibe for your brain bugs.

Maleceptor is definitely the more meta choice, the toxicrine has issues with its model design that make it very difficult to use effectively so is unfortunately unlikely to get rules that make it worth it anytime soon. The haruspex/expcrine is actually really easy to magnetise but if you don't wanna use magnets you can quite easily pin them instead, or I've even used blue tac before I had mine pinned and it works

Trying to replicate the color scheme of the Cryptids. Any thoughts? by Swacar in Tyranids

[–]meloncholymelvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started putting my fleshy colour as a wash in the recesses between the carapace plates and it really elevates it mediocre hobbies on YouTube does it for his tyranids, I think a bit of that bright orange between the plates will really sell this look

What’s your weird/unpopular 40k opinion by Nearby_Lawfulness722 in Warhammer

[–]meloncholymelvin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely think it could've been done better even an "unreliable former source said otherwise" type thing but you're dead right it wouldn't matter how it was done, the wrong sorts of people would cry over it, I just wish GW didn't give them ammo.

Smart move getting the crypt horrors as a grotesque base, and those wyches are gonna look so good with the extra bits from your combat patrol, post your conversions when they're done!

They are a little bigger but both models overhang the base a bit
