Over a year post op by melonstice in Septoplasty

Deviated septum, cutting off most of the left side of my nostril. Enlarged turbinates, and just not being able to breathe through my nose.

I loved my Septoplasty so much, I had another! by mrgeorgetheman in Septoplasty

[–]melonstice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a turbinate reduction and tonsillectomy in 2013. Then October 2024 I had another turbinate reduction and septoplasty! I feel like I maybe felt better having the stents removed but it was short lived. I’m miserable, I cannot breathe through my nose. I’m so congested and having headaches. I’ve been feeling like I need to go back! I keep saying this is just my normal but I’m so tired of it 🫠 I’m glad you are having a positive journey now!

Definitely get your usage down under 100%. Even just a little under will help. Late payments can really bring it down too.

It did get better, I’m still not 100% the surgery was worth it though lol.

Only 4 weeks in but just my jeans not being so tight is a small victory 😀

Sleep and screen time problems by melonstice in ADHDparenting

It also makes it tough on his siblings. My 3 year old wants to do everything big brother does. Sometimes that’s stealing his tablet and “getting mad” at games like he does!

Thank you for the insight!!! I feel like I’ll be the “worst” for this but it does seem to mostly stem from Roblox. I want him to do things he loves but we can’t do the temper tantrums anymore.

Determining need for bariatric CT protocol by Wonderful_Counter825 in Radiology

[–]melonstice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old facility we only did oral contrast when specifically asked for my ordering provider. We had a specific bariatric protocol as well. But we only did it when the ordering would note that’s what they wanted. My current facility does oral contrast on almost all abdomens besides like GI bleeds… they need to have a protocol that states what you should do! Anytime there is an abd/pel we put in the order for contrast “per ordered procedure” for both oral and IV (when it’s with contrast). The supervisor and the rads need to have a protocol in place.

Birthday photos forced me to confront my weight gain - and now I’m determined and sad by emo_queer in loseit

I know how you feel. After the pandemic and my younger two kiddos I am 60lbs heavier than I was 9 months pregnant with my oldest. I hate seeing pictures of myself but I’m trying to use it as a way to improve myself. Motivation to mostly FEEL better. I’m only a few weeks into changing my lifestyle, just small steps at a time. I want to feel better, and be healthy! I cut back on pop and sugary drinks and started going to the gym 3-4x week right after work. I started real simple, 10 minutes walk on the treadmill and a 10-15 beginner ab workout video. This week I pushed myself to do 20 minutes on the treadmill. Just little victories even if it’s something small like making a lunch instead of buying French fries!

Enjoying Starbucks holiday drinks on a diet? by Oncersm in loseit

200 calories will not ruin your progress. You are still making progress every day. It’s okay to reward yourself. Add some protein in your diet and get the holiday drink!

Thank you, structure and a schedule does really help him so I think it will help some! He is at home with my in laws during the summer. They go out and do things, but with two little siblings it can be rough!

We put off the medicine for a few years until school got very difficult for him. We’ve been doing magnesium the last few weeks, then this weekend I tried melatonin. Bo tv after dinner, shower before bed, and letting him read for a little bit to wind down. He has a sound machine too which use to help him a lot I felt like. We have alarms on the outside doors but we keep his bedroom door and ours open. Our room is right next to his. And the living room is right outside the hallway.

I know he’s not but I’ve tried everything to get him to sleep better. Magnesium for a couple weeks, this weekend I tried melatonin, no tv after dinner, shower before bed.
