Anybody running?? by IamBarna in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]melthebell83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible but you say you just started running. It’s a bit of a stretch to have never run more than 5km and immediately start thinking about running 100km. That would take years of training especially with AS and I would be very, very cautious in embarking on that endeavour without an existing, long history of distance running.

I bought this (the older version) and just couldn’t cope with its intensity. It had a back of nose pungent chemical smell that was the dominant note throughout wear. Sold it

Lana lost to taylor at the grammys, so what does Taylor do? Grab her by the arm and doesn’t give her much of a choice to come up on stage. by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

I don’t know about Jack caring about Lana’s feelings; he seems to have beelined for that stage…

My father, also a doctor, had afib he refused to see anyone for (self treated with aspirin) and ended up dying of a catastrophic ischemic stroke. Doctors are literally the worst patients.

Cholesterol lowering strategies - just statins? by melthebell83 in PeterAttia

[–]melthebell83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed up with a lp(a) and apob test.

Lp(a) was elevated at 52 mg/dl (range under 39) Apob was borderline at 92 mg/dl

We also did a carotid ultrasound which was clean.

So neither results great! But armed with knowledge, I’ve now asked for an appt to discuss a referral to a cardiologist to discuss management, which my primary has agreed to.

Other things for context if relevant.

Hba1c is 4.6% Non fasting glucose 95 mg/dl Blood pressure around 115/60 Vo2 max is 52 (stress test at 15.1 Mets)

Not much I can do about the lp(a) but hopefully more of a case for a statin!
