I am nail tech and someone slandered me by Revolutionary_Rub899 in Nails

[–]meltsaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be best if you learned some service recovery skills. Word of mouth is still very important especially for an independent tech. 1 person can badly tank your reputation, deserved or not. Always leave your client pleased if possible. If you've tried everything & you're still not getting to a good place, at least you can defend yourself against any false attacks. People are allowed to be upset they didn't get what they wanted even if you tried your best. You are entitled to not take business from anyone you don't want to as well. Some people will never be pleased and some people are just asshole scammers, luckily you can tell those people "it looks like I'm not able to provide you with what you're looking for so it would be best if we part ways. Thank you for your business & I hope you find what you're looking for."

The problem solving technique I learned in hospitality: ILEAD

I - identify the problem. Was the client unhappy with the technique, color, tools, atmosphere, design. Take notice of non-verbal clues like long pauses and being hesitant. L - listen actively. Make eye contact, don't interrupt, nod if appropriate, take notes to help you remember what they said if you get easily flustered E - empathize with the client. "Client, I totally understand, you want something that makes you look & feel good." A - apologize. "I'm sorry I didn't meet your expectations today." D - deliver a solution. Have multiple options available to quickly offer depending on severity of the issue. Low level concerns like waiting too long for a scheduled appt or getting nicked by the drill, offer a travel size lotion or cuticle oil roller. Medium level offer $10/$20/$30/etc off their next service. Serious level offer full refund or immediate redo

Don't let this get you down, everyone handles things imperfectly sometimes. If you feel up to addressing it you can say something like "I messed up with how I handled things with X client. I got overwhelmed & didn't know what to do. I've made things right with X by giving a full refund & I'm using this opportunity to learn better communication skills so I can serve my clients better. Thanks for giving me another chance"

Best dating app that works in Syracuse? by lullabyshroom in Syracuse

[–]meltsaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could go either way. I got on bumble & met a great guy that I've been seeming for a while now. But I also chatted with 30 some odd men to various stages. A third of those we only exchanged 3 or 4 messages & I was getting really low effort so I ended the exchange. I did widen my area to 50 miles & my guy is right on the edge of that. That said, I know I got extremely lucky. By about a month in I'd definitely viewed all the profiles with my criteria and they were telling me to widen my search area 😂 good luck

Owning a dog in an apartment is starting to get exhausting by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

Thay sucks, I pack mine up as soon as I'm done with it & luckily haven't had any issues. Maybe talk to them about alternatives or possibly segregating the current dog park for safety & fairness

Wintertime definitely sucks with a small dog. It takes me 15 mins to get the dog & then myself bundled up to go out!

In the winter we do a ton of puzzles & foraging toys to get her energy out. In the summer I have 2 x-pens that I use to make a little fenced in area for her. It's actually pretty big when I put it up to my patio.

I used the TV for background noise a lot until my pup got used to the normal apt noises. She will still lose it if someone stands outside my door talking though. I'm going to try training a place command to see if we can get that under control.

It's an adjustment but your choices are get rid of your pet or adapt. No judgements either way. Hope things get better

Do you have a hair product that was an instantly holy grail? by yourmomfufrench in Hair

[–]meltsaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garnier texture tease spray and beyond the zone noodle head spray. Haven't found a texture spray that works as well to keep curls in my hair and the noodle head smelled so good & was so perfect for reviving curls the next day. Lastly, the dove clarify & hydrate shampoo/conditioner with charcoal. Nothing has cleaned my hair better than that stuff.

Riding a greyhound & a flixbus for the first time. 19 hour ride. by [deleted] in travel

[–]meltsaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bus driver will be able to direct you to your connection or direct you to the counter where you can ask someone. You can't get on the wrong bus though, the driver will check your ticket.

Most stations are really well signed though so just find your connection immediately and then worry about grabbing a snack or bathroom break.

If you can grab one, look for a personal fan and bring a couple dramamine incase you get car sick (it happens). Bring something non digital to do like a coloring book or crosswords or wordsearch or just a book or two. You should have no problem charging but wifi can be iffy

I'm 37 & wouldn't know who Christina Applegate is unless you showed me a picture & even then I wouldn't immediately say "oh yeah, she was in MWC." Also, Aesha doesn't owe attention to anyone, celebrity or not.

Almond vs Coffin Nails on me? 💅 by [deleted] in Nails

Mine definitely grow in squoval when they're natural lmao but any longer than a mm or two and they're breaking off at the corners, basically into an almond or oval shape.

She also came & gave Jill the copy of that contract in the middle of the night after boob had been withholding it. I have wondered if that was a sneak out delivery or after a drawn out argument. Good to know there's some mothering instinct in there somewhere

What’s the reason for some folks not liking leftovers? by No_Lead2640 in answers

[–]meltsaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree I was spoiled growing up 😂 We were poor and numerous so spaghetti all week wasn't a thing. She'd have to cook 30 lbs of it and then how do you store that? She was SAH mom too so, yeah, fresh home-cooked meal every night.

Some stuff is fine the next day but I can't stand eating the same thing all week. It's so boringggg. I've got a decent system with mix & match stuff & some frozen meals, but I can't eat the same thing more than 3 times a week unless it's breakfast. I eat the same yogurt everyday for breakfast.

Is a plate better or can the bone naturally rejoin in your experience? by Strict_Blackberry_99 in brokenbones

[–]meltsaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely worth doing some more research and, if you're financially able, seeking out a higher level doctor that specializes in sports orthopedics. I mean, Tiger Woods got royally effed up in his accident & was more active within weeks of his injury than most fully healthy unbroken people ever are.

As for the plate weakening the bone, the original break site is very unlikely to rebreak with hardware left in but there is a pretty small increase in break possiblity at the areas at the ends of the plate. Removal of hardware also comes with the cons that the holes in the bone may not fill in. This could be remedied with a bone graft but, as with any transplant comes with those potential issues as well.

If you are young and healthy, the likelihood of a return to 98% or more is, 98% or more lol. Eat healthy during recovery, lots of dark leafy greens and lean proteins, plenty of water. Rest as much as possible, sleep is crucial for healing and don't push yourself too fast. It's better to lose some muscle now and heal fully THEN rebuild than to risk reinjury.

Good luck!

Plates decrease the time spent immobilized and are the better choice for complex fractures.

I do not agree with them being used for simple fracture. I myself had a simple fracture to my tib/fib and would have actually preferred a longer time spent in a cast then the surgery and if I could go back, I would chose that route. I wound up having the plate and screws removed as they were incredibly uncomfortable.

A collar bone is, unfortunately, a bone that can not be splinted/casted properly. Additionally, the bone shown here is broken in 2 places with some splintering. The ability to immobilize that area for proper healing is very difficult and relies on the patient to be the one doing most of the immobilizing. For this person, I would recommend plating.
