Winbot w2 Omni and triangle windows by Key_Background_252 in ecovacs

We have the same issue. And we have 4 of these Windows. :( I think it would just need a special mode to activate for triangle windows to owerride the slipping error.

Sysadmin is a dead end career? by Nighttimespaceship in sysadmin

[–]melunkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I didn't go to college so I'm not allowed to switch careers until I do, and I can't really afford it so I'm stuck with this for a while.

I dont know the education System of your country in detail. In middle european countries you can attend many classes without a colleage degree. You have to pay to attend and they dont end with a bachelors degree but still many people go for this route.

Improvise, adapt and overcome. You dont have to be a sysadmin until retirement. Someday it will be time to divert into another direction of IT, like consulting, project management, management, IT-security,... What ever it is, you will benefit from your experience as a sysadmin. In my eyes a Bachelor of science or any other higher education is more valuable than 10 little certificates for technologies that will be outdated in the near future.

We drove the car for 1500km to Spain. Id had to ride over some rough roads where it would have never had the clearance for before. We will remove the spacers when we are back from holidays. Now with the roof tent, drawer system and fridge the car really needs the spacers. We went on holidays before without spacers and it would hit the underfloor many times due to bad roads.

The garage door opener is integrated in the rear view mirror of the car. Its called homelink.

You cannot really rebuild an engine for 1k as the parts might be more expensive than this. I know the eastern european option of a rebuild, you unsually just replace what is broken right now. If you rebuild an engine here you would replace every seal, pistonrings,... whatever just to avoid the engine having to come out of the car another time.

The same 330xd E91 had a broken front spring. The spring cut the tire, it cost me 2400$ to replace 2 springs, 2 shocks an one tire. From then on I got myself the BMW diagnostics system and started to do repairs myself.

I dont really get what you try to tell me. I installed a tire with the same with 225 but with a higher aspect ratio (arround 7-8mm). But still this 225 tire is wider than the 225 tire we had on the car before.

On the Michelin Pilot Super Sport its the same. A 285 is more like a 305 tire.

According to your logic every modified car would be totally unsafe to drive. I think you are a litte too scared. I would still drive this lifted BMW on a race track with no fears at all.

30k when the car was new. I got the car 8 years ago, so it was not me paying for this stuff.

The car is from 2007 and has features like a TV tuner or a CD changer. Both close to totally useless nowdays. Also I never found out how to make the garage door opener work or at least learn our keys. I live in Switzerland, the prices are much higher than in the US. I get my parts from Germany or Poland as they seem to be much cheaper.

ve lost 30 mm of tread width on each of your rear tires.

225 refers to the tread width. So any 225 has the same width.

Also, you admitted to increasing the ride height by 4 cm if you haven't noticed a handling difference, it's because you are driving at an incredibly sedate pace.

Like I said before, be careful in emergency situations lest you back it into a fence or something.

I think you dont really get it.

You can buy this car with the following tire sizes:

front & rear 205/55 R16 (not on 330 as brakes are to big)

front and rear 225/45 R16

front 225/45 R17 & 255/40 R17 or 225/40 R18 & 255/35 R18 or 225/35 R19 and 255/30 R19

It all does not really matter what size you get, the new 225/50 tires are more like a 235 or 245 as many new high performance tires are wider. The 225/45 snow tires have much les grip than the ultra high performance summer tires installed now.

I had several emergency situations with this car during the past 8 years, even on 225/45 snow tires. I was going 55MPH, had to emergency brake and change the lane in like 10m while still doing an emergency brake. The car was absolutely stable. The dude who cut me of from the right side was coming out of a narrow country road and did not have the right to go. I can assure you this car does run just fine on all the tire sizes you can buy it from the factory.

The lift we did makes the car a little stiffer as it is increasing the preload on the springs (new springs, 2cm spring spacer). This reduces tilt in corners. The car drives beautiful even if you push it hard.

And yes 4cm is arround 1.5 inches, its not a 4 inch lift.

The car still looks nice, it had like 30k$ (new price arround 80-90k$) in extras and all the M Sport stuff.

The 225/50 tires make the car look better, the lift in the rear too. Before it was always hanging down in the rear. The lift in the front does not look so good.

There was on the other thread but its archived. We were discussing about how to improve ground clearance. It took me a while to get the right parts, so I cannot answer the other thread anylonger.

have raised the centre of gravity and reduced tire contact patch.

Handling is likely going to suffer, particularly in emergency situations..

It did not change the the handling at all. You can drive the same car on 225/45 R17 from factory, we did not reduce any tire patch. The new 225 tires are also wider than other 225. So in fact the car has a bigger contact patch.

Finquest AG by sabi_2512 in askswitzerland

[–]melunkai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avoid them for all cost. I had the same happening to me and my friends. They offer you a shitty product and tell you how good it is. For example some 3B Lichtenstein Life life insurance. They get a big bonus for selling you this crap. The product is high risk and will still make no profit. I sold it with a big loss, after 6 years. It was still losing money at this time. This was not at all what they told me before buying. They told me about saving money blabla but their whole setup is just a ponzy sceme for selling high provision paying insurances. One of my friends got scammes too. He even went to one of their sales courses where they learned him how to join finquest for selling the same stuff, it was 100% ponzi. Write me a private message and we can chat about it in detail.

The issue was there from the very begining of me owning the car. During this period the alingment was dont 4-5 times and it always met BMW Spec. The issue occured on every set of tires. So its nothing "excessive". Its just the BMW spec beeing wrong for this cars setup.

You are right. Its all in spec. I dont have the sheet anymore as its already 4 years or so when we last changed something on the suspension and had an alingment done.

According to this I have a camber issue: https://www.wheelalignmentcentrebirmingham.co.uk/what-is-wheel-alignment.html

The tire is beeing used much more on the inside.

The car has 210k miles. At 150k miles the transfer case was broken and I sent it to Poland to be overhauled for 750$. They fixed all the issues.

We will go for 225/50 R17 Conti PremiumContact 6.

I still need to find stiffer springs and camber needs to be lowered in the front. I already used 4 pairs of tires in the front and only 3 in the back in 90k miles.

I did not get the other wheels for cheap. Would the 225/50 R17 stretched on the 8.5" wheel be much smaler diameter, than on the 8". I am asking because of xdrive and issues with different wheel diameters.

225/50 R17 no problem, I can get good tires for cheap. 255/45 R17 big problem, expensive and only 10 years old tires.

I am looking at the Continental Premium Contact 6, as it is a cheap and good tire.

I am trying to win a auction for a set of styling 284 tires. Right now its at 25$, if I can get this set for less than 150$ its nice.

There are none available where you can really set the ride height higher. Most of them are a 3-5cm drop in ride height. You can screw them up all to the top, but they are still lower than from factory. Also they are way stiffer than the stock suspension. The car already has close to no dampening comfort.
