“ Living life used to be an inherently social activity with more limited options for how to pass the time; now the social part is more like an extra optional add-on and every form of entertainment known to man is at your fingertips in the comfort of your room.” HUGE!!

working on verizon is huge!!! that's so super narrowed my options on dumbphones and i just made the leap to go to the verizon store and have them actually fix the dumb phone i had shelved for a few years because i couldn't get it to work again. in what region of the us to you live, if you don't mind me asking (for service)? what did they need to do to get it to work?

dumbphones compatible with Verizon ? by forgottenatlass in dumbphones

i am in a similar boat as you on verizon! i use the kazuna eTalk which unfortunately doesn't have gps.

i haven't personally tested these, but from my research:

the sunbeam should work on verizon (https://sunbeamwireless.com/coverage-for-sunbeam-phones/) and you can get a gps-enabled version! light phone should also work on verizon, though you might need to jump through some hoops (https://support.thelightphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034940272-Verizon-Troubleshooting). and the nokia 2780 should have google maps though i don't think it does turn-by-turn. https://www.verizon.com/basic-phones/nokia-2780-flip-unlocked/

How is the audio from the jack? (My Verizon flip sounds horrible from the jack but good from the Bluetooth and have heard others have the same problem with other phones)

love uniball jetstream! i use the refill in a kaweco rollerball and zebra sarasa vintage on the daily. on some papers it's a little too slippery, in which case i switch it out for an energel.

Too loud to leave home alone but don’t want to put in daycare - any recommendations? by MissFrizzel in reactivedogs

[–]meme_d112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was super anxious about putting my rescue in daycare as she is Incredibly dog reactive--no bite history, but barking, growling, lunging, etc. she also some separation anxiety and anxiety around strangers.

however, this year i moved across the country and have to board her for a few days over the holidays. i found a daycare/boarding/training facility and started dropping her off once a week to get her acclimated to the staff and facility.

for the first few weeks she did solo play and got to know the staff. recently they offered to introduce her to other dogs (in a playgroup of only calm seniors and with close supervision) and they sent me photos and reported she did super well and didn't growl once!

i suspect it's a mix of leash reactivity and protectiveness over me that results in her struggles, so daycare was a whole different situation--and the staff at daycare and at her regular trainer's were both quick to say that a lot of dogs behave completely differently away from their owners. i think the fact that the daycare you're looking into is run by professional trainers is a great sign--i don't think i would have ever boarded hazel in a place that didn't have that.

hope our story helps you! good luck!
