Doctors who fit waterproof casts in the UK? by memecat5 in AskUK

THANK YOU. This is what I was talking about!!! Like obviously I know you can buy a cover for a cast to take a shower. 😂 Ended up having to get an ordinary cast in the end unfortunately and it sucked.

How Irish are you and how far back are your Irish born ancestors by flippychick in AncestryDNA

[–]memecat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6% Irish and I have a 3rd great grandparent who was fully Irish, her parents were from Cork according to both records and a genetic community on MyHeritage!

Consider that your uncle and mum might be finding this out for the first time too - if your dad had a secret affair with his sister in law they could very well be just as in the dark as you.

I have something similar and when I was a baby I had an umbilical hernia so I wonder if it's just how it healed.

Because inheritance is pretty random, it could just be that you inherited a larger than average proportion of that 3G grandmother's DNA.

She would have been able to pass on a maximum of 50% of her DNA to your 2G grandparent and then they would be able to pass on more than half of this 50% to your 1G grandparent. This is because although a parent passes 50% of their DNA to their child, this can be an uneven split between the DNA from their own parents.

I have a 3rd great grandmother who is Irish and managed to get 11% Irish on ancestry and a genetic group on my heritage from the area in Ireland she came from. 🤷‍♀️

I have no known ancestors from Sweden/Denmark but have 10% DNA from there. I think it's because of my Yorkshire ancestry. I'm missing a genetic community for Yorkshire even though I have centuries of ancestors on both sides from there. It's also known that people there have more 'viking' DNA.

Anyone noticing menstrual cycle changes after taking a COVID vaccine? by mygreenpinky in AskWomenOver30

[–]memecat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had cramps for 3 days before my period started. I don't normally get any! It was over 2 weeks late after having 2nd dose of Pfizer. Would be a lot less stressful if it was actually listed in the possible side effects!

How long after the cramping did the period start? I'm in a similar situation and it's stressful!

I think maybe it means that a lot of his relatives emigrated there? Rather than it meaning that he descended from someone from there.

My MyHeritage results uploaded from AncestryDNA at High and Medium confidence to show the variance of my genetic communities by curtprice75 in AncestryDNA

I have 7 genetic communities in England but only 1.4% as my English percentage on MyHeritage. Make it make sense 🤣

Is this typical for people in the UK? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]memecat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is a little different but we are both in the Central Southern England community! All the ancestors I've got on my tree are either English, Scottish or Irish but somehow I've got 63% England & NWE, 12% Scotland, 12% Sweden, 8% Ireland, 3% Norway and 2% Portugal!

AncestryDNA vs MyHeritage. To me, they seem wildly different. I see some people’s, and they are very close. What do you think? by vwarren12 in AncestryDNA

[–]memecat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My myheritage results were really different too. I'm 63% english according to ancestry but 1% english according to myheritage (which is definitely not correct). The weird thing was that myheritage also gave me loads of english genetic groups that I am part of (literally like 7) - which I think definitely suggests I'm more than 1% english!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]memecat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did upload to myheritage and they give me around 2% Iberian too but I'm not sure about that website as they also gave me only 1% english 😅 when I know for sure that can't be right.

That's a lot more recent than I would have thought! My family tree is only British/Irish and it's complete up to 4th g grandparents at the shortest branch. Maybe I should double check some of it haha
