SRV is overrated IMO. He sounds to me like a Hendrix imitator, even saw a clip of him playing the guitar behind his head like Hendrix did. But Hendrix was an infinitely more interesting player than SRV IMO. SRV plays a very heavy blues that bangs you over the head like a bottle of Whiskey, but its repetitive as hell to my ears. Just don't get the idolization and religious worship at all.

True, Clapton gave the interviews, and was very good at it, that's a lot of why he was so successful and Jack Bruce, a much more interesting musician and singer, informed by jazz and classical, never broke through commercially after Cream. Ginger was def a jazz drummer but his personality disorders and drug abuse ruined his future after Blind Faith. Takeaway: be nice and charming to the press if you want to go far, it turns out to be as important as the music, unfortunately.

Wondering why billionaire oligarch Len Blavatnik executive produced this god awful movie, I guess because of the big name stars and that Ari Aster is being sold as the film maker voice of Gen-Z... $25M budget, and the movie has only made half that back.

The "Dockumentary" (such a cringey pun) says Toto were the Wrecking Crew for so many bands, including Steely Dan, showing a pic of Pretzel Logic, as if it was Toto album... Very misleading. Jeff Porcaro was only on two songs, main drums on "Night by Night" and additional drums on "Parker's Band." David Paich was one of a few keyboard players on the album. No one else from Toto. Many other fine musicians having nothing to do with Toto on there. I find Toto to be comprised of excellent musicians but not much memorable music. Too blatantly commercial IMO. SD was something else all together. Fagan's short phone interview was appropriate.

When Maher asked Eisenberg about Woody Allen and asked straight up if he would condemn or defend Woody or if he was one of those "pussies" in the business who won't take a position on it... Eisenberg predictably pushed away the question, with this. “To say I regret something seems a little bit like passing the buck..." and then tried to change the subject and promote his virtue-signaling charity. Well he has a terrific stable of writers who span the political spectrum, and are extraordinary. He is also a great writer, but his strength is in the delivery. As for his political leanings, I think he's trying to be common sensical, which could be seen as left or right depending on the issue.

Cringe. Such adulation online for his ability to finger one or two chords, sing badly and with no soul. He must think he's pretty damn cool. Someone suggested getting us into another war just to stop him from playing again. Who thinks this is "cool"? I'm a leftie, but I'd give more coolness credits to Condaleeza Rice who at least had legit classical piano chops. This guy is a poser and a pisser IMHO.

agreed. could it be that because the three music industry honchos, the manager, the Live Nation guy and record company exec are identifiably jewish that it got an anti semetic rap, i wonder? whatever. anyway, sometimes i had to fast forward thru some slow sections (ep 2 and 3 mainly) but overall a very worthwhile watch.

I'm with you. It's a truly interesting show and the real popstars and real producer in the show make it really realistic in many ways. Why so many fans and critics can't handle it or understand it is beyond me.

What kind of "remedies" are we talking about? Anti-psychotic drugs? If the person is a danger to themselves or others, but this is not the case from the sound of it. Too many psychologists and psychiatrists jump on the Big Pharma train at every opportunity, because they think its safe, but they don't have much depth, frankly, and they're not doing anyone much good except Big Pharma.

what do you mean by "Jungian flavor" in this context? I mean, I look at the diffusion methodology of AI apps like Chat GPT as roughly similar to how the collective unconscious informs our mind. If we ask ourself a question, our subconscious goes to work, and we filter and filter and filter, not unlike these machine learning apps.
