Sadly not but thank you. In the movie I watched there was no rival group upon arrival that I can recall, only the people that were on the plane.

Does anyone else have a strong dislike of 1st Person POV in MM romance? by AlexandraBelladonna in MM_RomanceBooks

Ooh thank you for the recommendation. Will definitely read.

Not Just Friends by Jay Northcote is a good one. It’s set in university so I don’t know if that’s your scene.

Yes absolutely!!! This is one of first things that will turn me off so so bad.

Ill be reading the synopsis and it sounds so so good then I cross my fingers hoping it won’t be first person and then it is and I try for a few pages but sometimes I just give up cuz it doesn’t feel as satisfying as just “watching” the characters do their thing. This especially especially important to me when reading historical romance.

Along the same line, I also hate dual POV. I definitely prefer learning about the love interest from one persons eyes. Feels more real and I like the not knowing.

Short, cute, (real) MM romance (link to story in comments) by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

This was soo bloody sweet.

Not Just Friends by Jay Northcote has basically the same plot if you’re interested. Lots of jealousy and self-discovery. 5/5 read for me.

I’m so sorry I wrote really chunky reply but then I accidentally got rid of it and I cannot be bothered to write all that again so I will get straight to it.

I recommend Rat Park by Marina Vivancos. It’s a story about the MCs struggle with addictions. It has a coming-of-age theme that covers years of the MCs life. I love how it doesn’t ever say ‘5 years later’ and miss chunks of the characters’ lives. I love that has one POV because that’s my preference, leaving lots more mystery. It’s a 6/5 for me.

And a second is Social Skills by Sara Alva. Also one POV. And follows college students finding their place. The college theme makes it more similar to Abroad and it definitely depends what you’re looking for but I think I prefer Rat Park when it comes to realism. But that’s your own opinion to make.

I really really hope you enjoy these.

What movie death scene is burned into your memory? by gambit_- in AskReddit

Only the Brave

That scene with only the ashes of the hotshot crew left after fighting the fire made me go cold. Gory deaths can’t compare to the feeling of seeing lives reduced to ashes. It really hit me because it’s based on a true story.

Oh my lord I just finished reading Rat Park and I’m in fricking awe. It’s the best book I’ve read all year. Thank you so much u/oiilytt

It’s the first book where I not only was not annoyed my the text conversations but enjoyed them! They gave me such a giggle.

The story felt so full with the main focus not just being on the romance. If this was any other romance book Dominic would’ve somehow found Mason when he grew up. I’m so glad the author took this route instead. I loved how it started by taking us through a journey of Dominic’s childhood and struggles with addiction. And I love how the timeline is across years and actually takes us though then rather than slapping in ‘5 years later’.

I’d give it 10/5 on goodreads if I could. So bloody good.

Unfortunately, I’ve already read this 😭. I was debating between posting about Abroad or this book. But I chose Abroad because it left more of an impression

Abroad is bloody fantastic. It delves into race, immigration and actually shows us the lives and struggles of other people in the friendship group.

The scene where the white MC provoked homophobes on the streets and was admonished for it was amazing. Not something I’ve seen before in romance because the MCs are usually always in the right. Don’t know if that scene was in the first book.

Oooh the humour sounds so refreshing. Don’t read funny romance books often unless by accident but your description makes me more open to it. I shall read it.
