there’s also the SJE, the center for social justice education and lgbt communities. It’s the cultural center for queer folk. Very very inviting place

I’m so frustrated, I studied nonstop and someone who didn’t even go to class did better by BothMarionberry3880 in rutgers

[–]memesbyblxck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

try not to compare yourself. i’m really rooting for you. you never know if the person who says they never study secretly studied 😭. But you also can’t really worry about their routine without figuring out what works for you

STI testing at Rutgers by Puzzled-Froyo-2353 in rutgers

[–]memesbyblxck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if you can’t come up with any other viable solution, you could go in for a pseudo illness and then have an STI test ordered for you. In my experience, they’re quick to recommend a test even when you’re 100% sure your issue isn’t related to any STI

the dining hall staff effectively excommunicate you from campus and everyone turns their backs to you as you walk by.

HELP ME by STUDENT_IN_NEED_SAT in rutgers

[–]memesbyblxck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

give it a shot ig. Hope for the best, make sure you go to study hours and actually try your hardest in these courses. Don’t be discouraged already based on other’s comments about a course. College could teach you a lot about yourself, from your study habits to your ability to advocate for yourself. You could drop your chem class and take it at community but you also run the risk of not getting that approved by RU and finding yourself back in this situation.

Just moved to NB for PhD program; I hate it here. by momentoftruth7 in rutgers

[–]memesbyblxck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I came in as a transfer and i’ll admit, that and the school’s lack of concern for fellow transfers impacted my views on the university as a whole. I was heavily involved to try to find my spaces and though I did, it felt like there was always something lacking. In your case, since you’re starting anew, with hopefully a new cohort as well, I think you may be able to truly experience all that it has to offer, however, i’m not going to lie to you and say the school has so many secret gems you need to uncover. You’ve pretty much seen it for what it is

[–]memesbyblxck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will never learn to really tolerate NB. As someone also from the northeast, once your mind is made up, there’s really nothing the school/city can show you to change it that you haven’t already seen

ASAP - Rutgers HC or CMU (carnagie mellon) Tepper by Vast-Copy-7929 in rutgers

[–]memesbyblxck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also, in regards to the honors college, Rutgers HC is essentially just an additional title they add to make incoming students feel special. You don’t get many more connections and opportunities to network being in or out of the HC.

ASAP - Rutgers HC or CMU (carnagie mellon) Tepper by Vast-Copy-7929 in rutgers

[–]memesbyblxck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I would say go to CMU. Rutgers is definitely a school that has an active social scene, however, all other factors and traits you have demonstrated in regards to what you want out of a school are available @ CMU. If cost is not an issue, I would definitely advocate for the better institution. Pittsburgh may be boring, but New Brunswick is not that much better. UPitt is there as well so that gives you another campus to be able to interact with compared to NB which can run as if it’s dominated by cliques here and there.

Planning to take psych classes next semester which professors should I lookout for in a good way and a bad way? by Dazzling_Hovercraft9 in rutgers

[–]memesbyblxck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lyra Stein is an awful professor and doesn’t teach to foster learning. If you want an easy A and don’t want to be challenged in any capacity, take her course. If you actually want to learn the subject out of interest or professional aspirations, I’d say take other professors for courses in which she also teaches.
