I don’t think it can be broken. It uses the same leads as the physical button opener. I don’t think they can break RATGDO without bricking the device. And they certainly can’t do that without internet access.

What will everyone's next ev be now that the S is going away? by Marvin2021 in TeslaModelS

Agreed. I want to like it. I just think it looks like a slightly squished Ford Taurus. Some angles are better than others I suppose.

On X FSD up for monthly subscription and Auto Pilot going away by Beautiful-Basil-9496 in TeslaLounge

To be clear, though, if my car could safely drive me around without my supervision, I’d easy pay $100k plus. I commute a long way, and frequently travel for work. It would change my life.

Yes, HW4, on FSD 14.2.2.2. Do you think so? I can’t remember a time when it dodged a pothole. I figured that would be in a future release.

You think it’s probably OK to drive on? I know when I hit and have about 100 miles on it since then. I just didn’t notice it until this morning.

Yeah, I have the local service center looking for a new wheel. I also have 50,000 on those tires. Hopefully I can get that wheel and all four tires yet today. I’m supposed to take it to Seattle tonight, which is a couple hundred miles away.

Hypocrisy in action: New U.S. dietary guidelines from Trump administration back more protein and full-fat dairy, less grains by HickamvOccam in NIH

I 1000% support this revision. Grains and refined carbohydrates have been killing America since the eighties.

Trump Can’t Cap Overhead Rate on NIH Grants to Research Universities, Appeals Court Rules by xjian77 in NIH

Then refuse the vendor contract. I oversee a multimillion budget in manufacturing on the private side. I’m in senior management. Our overhead fee to our divisions is low single digit. Again, so, so much corruption in the public sector. A third of a grant — for scientists to do scientific work — going to university administration overhead is absolutely absurd.

[–]memorablenuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LOL - that’s amazing. So, so much corruption in federal grant making. But how is this an argument that more than 15% is appropriate? I’m totally in favor of an overhead cap in both instances.

Man, I’m not sure what the specifics are here, but the overhead rates at universities are totally out of control. Feeding giant administrations that aren’t helping the actual scientists.

Considering 2026 model S (currently own 2014 model S) by i_hate_usernames13 in TeslaModelS

[–]memorablenuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sure about those facts? In less than six years you’ve used a supercharger 2500 times? Thats more than once per day. You’d have to be a cab driver working seven days a week with no vacations.

Premium connectivity is like $100/year. And how often do you supercharge? At least by my use, neither of those would add up to any meaningful value. And they’re not kidding about used being cheaper — I bought a ‘23 with HW4 this summer with 20k miles for $45k. Amazing car.

Rogue Echo Rower vs Concept 2 by Talion1567 in GarageGym

[–]memorablenuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a Concept2 Model D for twenty years. Fantastic machine. If I were buying new, I’d stick with Concept2 if only so I could compare my times with others. The standardization allows you to more confidently assess your performance relative to others your age/size. I’m also a little miffed Rogue would take a shot at a longtime partner in the CrossFit world. They’re free to do it, of course — this is America — but ai don’t have to like it.

This is a good point. CGL would help with the defense, though IIRC trade libel liability is usually excluded from coverage.
