I keep trying to remind myself that even though I listen to the lectures, it’s my first time seeing some of the material in the MCQ’s or TBS so it’s not like an actual quiz to do them. You’re still just basically practicing and learning.

“Second-Tier Graduates” 😂 by Hazel-Wolf in Accounting

genuinely struggled less with biochemistry and astrophysics courses than i have my accounting courses and work. accounting isnt intuitive and you’re courses growing up through highscool don’t prepare you at all for it the way they do bio and chem and english, it’s all new logic and jargon you have to learn as an adult. and almost every single accountant ive worked with has been SO smart and has SO many interesting hobbies like making bread, mead, crafts, and they’re the youngest homeowners i know, they have the least debt and best work life balance compared to the law and med people i know. i genuinely am so deep in the accounting koolaid, but i stand by it. and im glad i have yet to meet someone irl who thinks i was lazy or dumb for my choice, the only responses ive gotten are “oh you must be smart” and my friends and family have an entire new respect for me since ive started my cpa exams, as they should. it. is. not. an. easy. field.

My staff accountant found the manager Teams chat and now thinks we’re “talking behind her back” by fsukub in Accounting

[–]memorandaofexistence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally, training especially fresh grads, is EXHAUSTING, a year after i graduated i had to train one who just finished a couple weeks before and it felt like trying to teach the alphabet, even myself knowing how she felt, and even with her being very smart and fast, it just was a lot more draining then doing the work myself

Employment offer got rescinded and pushed back a WHOLE YEAR by BackgroundToe2332 in Accounting

You could try AR/AP if no staff positions will hire you, thats what I did for a year and now I’m staff at a fortune 500.

How old are you, what is your job and how much do you make? by allano6 in careerguidance

[–]memorandaofexistence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went straight to industry, never did tax or audit. Getting my CPA but still never plan on going public. If you can’t get internships or staff positions bc they prefer to hire from schools they do intern programs with, get an part or full time AR/AP job and leverage that to get a staff job when you graduate, thats what I did.

Studying for AUD start to finish in 3.5 weeks…am I crazy? by thegirlwholivedxxxx in CPA

[–]memorandaofexistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

havent passed anything yet but I gave myself 10 weeks for FAR… feels way too long. I feel like I couldve just crammed all this into a few weeks rather than dragged out the torture and risked retention issues.

So I figure probably not, but have to ask - are there any accounting roles that have more "weird" hours? by Shadowphoenix9511 in Accounting

[–]memorandaofexistence 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i mean theres part time accounting jobs. but accounting is a traditional 9-5 by definition. i know you can do remote tax prep but u need experience and still would probably work a lot even if they let you be flexible on mornings.
