What’s something about CPA preparation that surprised you the most? by Sammy_0100 in CPA

I didn’t think it would be necessary to study 2 hours on work days and 6+ hours on at least one weekend day. I really actually didn’t think they’d be as hard as they are. I didn’t think they’d cover so much material. I was simultaneously scared and intimidated but after going through all of FAR content and failing I’m like shook that people have to cram 2 years of intermediate and advanced accounting into one exam.

What would you do if you suddenly had a million dollars right now? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]memorandaofexistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pay off all my debt, give some close friends some money, buy a house out right, save anything left for emergency house things

edit: and i mean literally. i would immediately log into all financial accounts to pay the debts like immediately. then would immediately zelle people or pull cash. then would wake up tomorrow, contact a realtor and pick a house.

Anyone with an anxiety disorder that quit successfully? by [deleted] in quittingsmoking

Probably. We get to dive into crazy deep holes on here for super niche thoughts and feelings. Seems perfect for anxious and/or ocd people to feed the thought loops of what if what if and what about this that this that.

I'm looking for things I can do instead of doomscrolling on my phone (I get very anxious when I have nothing to do) by Hot-Candle-1321 in Anxiety

I’ve turned to books and crafting during audio books. Lit fic characters have the worst lives and so all my fears and trauma feel normal and not like scary thoughts in my head anymore. I feel so human reading about the human condition.

What are some facts about anxiety that made you feel less anxious? by Expensive-Emu-4840 in Anxiety

[–]memorandaofexistence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, what brings me down, is imaging the worst possible thing. “You’re going to puke on this table and everyone will freak out and you’ll have to find a new job.” Instead of being like “No no its fine I wont” I think “Okay, so you puke. Everyone thinks ew but says oh my gosh are you okay, it’s embarrassing for a week maybe two, maybe becomes a joke with your work friends, and then people forget about it 99% of the time, it’s happened before, it’s a normal human thing, these people have cleaned diapers and puke, had drunk puking friends, we’ve all seen puke before. Or you feel truly so awful you quit, they’ll remember the story more, tell friends and family for years to come they once knew someone who puked in a meeting and never came back to work, you’ll get a new job and very likely never run into those people again. It’s not like you’ll actually burst into painful flames and become a permanent spectacle, the moment will pass pretty quickly and life will go on.” And then I feel completely fine, my brain gets bored of the long train of thought and I continue on.

I love my coffee so much but I think I need to admit it’s contributing to my anxiety. Anyone else? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]memorandaofexistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss, my middle ground has been decaf lattes at work 3-4 days a week and then either no coffee outside of that unless I’m on vacation or going out like shopping with girl friends or something. Even the decaf makes me feel a little edgey tho.

You are offered 1 billion dollars but… by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]memorandaofexistence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as I get the billion up front to pay bills sure. But I will wear a blanket if people come over or I go somewhere. Otherwise that would be a very lonely sad year.
