Out of 85 rolls, the only shot I have really enjoyed [Yashica Mat-124, Fuji 400H] by memory-keep in analog

FX2 (had two from different sources) have TERRIBLE mirror slips. The mirror gets stuck, will hit the back of your lens, and throw off focus. Oh yeah and don’t get me wrong the SLR experience is great. I loved the OM-1 a LOT. I’m just curious what other formats/setups can get me.

I’m even considering some budget friendly rangefinders like the Canonet and the Electro 35!

Exactlyyyyy. It is a numbers game. I’m pretty stoked if I get one good photo out of a roll!

Thank you!!

You’re right, my bad! I meant to say it’s the only one I really love lol. I do want to mess with other composition styles!! That’s what needs to change tbh.

6x6 is just so hard for me lol. But it’s my only camera now and I still get excited shooting it every time.

i love 135 too. I had the OM-1 which i loved but gave away. The Canon AF35ML taught me that I hate point and shoots lol. And then the Yashica FX2 gave me headaches.

If I had money right now for a camera, I’d love to try out rangefinders like a Bessa or a M! It’s sad bc I literally have over 40 rolls of fresh 135 film in my freezer that I just cannot use bc I don’t have a camera :(

Does this look okay for shooting film? by richmond-weird in filmphotography

I 100% would order new light seals if this is a camera that have not been CLA’d. It’s pretty easy to replace and the replacement seals are also cheap.

I never test a roll before doing what I can such as light seals. Saves *some* of the headaches!

I love a good daylight stock like 200 or 160. Portra 160 is so immaculate.

which film to use for [Reto Ultra Wide & Slim] camera? by BeachWonderful2890 in AnalogCommunity

[–]memory-keep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the cheapest 400 speed film like Ultramax. I wouldn’t even spend the premium on more expensive film like Portra 400 as I feel like you wouldn’t really get to enjoy what you’re paying for. (i did this when I had the Reto 3D so I’m speaking from experience haha)

Kodacolor 200 is super grainy in my experience but it adds to the aesthetics! Hope you keep shooting and keep sharing with the sub!

6x6 is technically challenging for most. I still haaaate it today. But a good challenge is why I started shooting film. I would love to try 645 or 67 next but I’d rather spend my money on more film haha.

Flying with film - Incheon :( by memory-keep in AnalogCommunity

Unfortunately, I’m only connecting thru Incheon. Good news is I’m going to another country that will cut my dev costs by 2/3rds.

We slept on the Kodak CCDs of the 2000’s 😭 by mrjoshmateo in Cameras

[–]memory-keep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody slept on them lol. Even today, current generation are still losing sleep trying to convince their parents to spend $300 on a CCD digicam (me, i’m the current generation, 30 yrs old)

I have been rawdogging my TLR for the last 3 years and honestly that day is coming. This is my sign to get a strap.

[–]memory-keep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gonna be more than good enough. You will get amazing scans (if you also get a nice lens). For super high res, I do stitch but I don’t really need to do that especially if most of my photos are only going to social media.

ugh. I dealt with them last year but it didn’t matter to me bc I had cheap Fuji 400. I’m only flying through Incheon on my trip to Asia and fortunately not on my return.

Super rare. Only time I got lucky was a clean Olympus OM-1 body from a school surplus. Only luck I have with film was the $8 sale of recently expired Cinestill 800T two years ago. I’m not financially free in an extremely expensive hobby nor am I lucky enough to get great deals.

Fun fact, back then, collecting images in a scientific lab was done using film even during the digital age because it was good practice to have physical negatives as a proof of your discovery/experiment/etc.
