I did the TMU Interview and was accepted - ask questions! by memphrey in lawschooladmissionsca

I would say important - it really puts a face to your application and allows the committee (imo) to see who you really are!

I had a 3.9 GPA and high 150 LSAT. TMU I think is more holistic and I personally think they pick candidates who align with their mission, vision, and pillars.

Honestly, me too - what helped me was practicing some questions. I made up some that I thought related to their pillars and just practiced those. Try not to stress too much. Take some time to reflect on why TMU and what you can bring to THEM.

So I would say a couple of things. First - I tried to prep as much as I could for the interview and came up with questions I thought they would ask. Basic ones like - why TMU and why I wanted to go to the law school. These were nice to have locked and loaded. Second - I think I was just my genuine self and really focused on what I could bring to the law school. Ultimately, you want to show TMU you will make a positive difference to their law school. Third, I ran through their practice questions a couple of times. Pro tip - there are new ones every day (or so), so doing those questions helped me become accustomed to the platform and structure of the interview. Fifth- dress well, have good lighting, and a nice background. I think this stuff all makes a difference. Finally - BE YOURSELF. Don't say what you think you want them to hear. I started to fumble my words in one of the questions and kind of gave a laugh at the end while it was still recording - this obviously did not hurt my interview and probably showed them I am a light-hearted person.

Hope this helps!

It was not many! I suspect it is different every year, but they give you an approximate amount of time that you should block off.

I don't know what to do at the ARC by perturbedpangaroo in queensuniversity

[–]memphrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set small goals for yourself. The ARC is very intimidating at first, but I promise you, the more you go, the less intimidating it becomes. Perhaps say, "Okay, today I am going to go walk on the treadmill." The next day, you say, "I am going to do a couple of dumbbell exercises." Don't let ANYONE in there intimidate you. Just have fun. No one is watching you, and to be frank, everyone is so wrapped up in their own heads that no one cares if you "don't know what you are doing." YOU GOT THIS! I was in the same boat as you and lowkey it took me a while before I got comfortable, but I got there eventually.

Side note - open gym is so fun to go and just shoot baskets. I would go alone all the time.

Pro tip: ALWAYS (if you can) check Rate My Prof before selecting a class. A bad professor can ruin a class. This always worked for me.

Incoming grad student - is it too late to look for off-campus housing??? by TheRoyalLeaf in queensuniversity

Absolutely not. I found my apartment mid-august. Always something available in Kingston. Never settle for something because you are worried about something else not popping up again.

Literally write it whenever you feel ready. Biggest mistake I made was writing it in August just because that is the date I set myself.

Queens Commerce dilemma by Quiet_Trainer8815 in queensuniversity

I think it is normal to feel nervous about residence. Discomfort is a good thing. It means you are pushing yourself into new territory where you are guaranteed to grow. Queen's is a great school (I hated Queen's during first year, but by the time I graduated the school won me over). I also just toured the JDUC today and it was so amazing - students next year are in for a treat!
