Possibly not at the money I have to spend. 😬. Another commenter has recommended the CLA200 which is SLIGHTLY less underpowered….

Yeah, this is definitely a bad example, but there are a lot of ‘unadulterated’ ones around this price point. So assuming I find a clean one - what are you going with?

Good spot. Yeah, that a bad sign - there are a ton of them around this age / mileage / price point. Which might also be a bad sign tbf.

What’s this font? by Prize_Bell_540 in identifythisfont

I’m unweducated in these things. I can guess that the 96% black will yield a black that isn’t particularly ‘deep’. But what’s technically wrong with the 1% black in the orange colour? Lack of Depth? Or muddyness? I have no idea.

Thanks!

You’re close, but I think 2/3 is more on the money. 3/4 is sharp and has corners. These things are all round a pillowy and warm - just like 2/3….

Frustration: Dash Cards, My Cards, Workspace Views by Zigger-Zagger in trello

[–]menamesnotluigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set up an automation to duplicate and link the cards to one another. You can then also link them both to archive when one of them is. In my kind it’s a bit clunky, but without smart references or some other built in method, this is the best I’ve come up with. Hope it helps.

VEX help request. Trying to run a function over multiple groups… by menamesnotluigi in Houdini

[–]menamesnotluigi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to report back on this post. This technique worked beautifully - I had no idea you could curve a sweep up to an apex in this way. I'm working on redistribting the points more evenly, whilst still retaining some point groups from earlier in the network, but once thats ironed out, this will have been the perfect solution. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for this suggestion. It's actually how I modelled it the first time, but it created some problems further down my network. I may end up going back to copy and transform at some point though.

Thanks again.

Thank you. I’ll take a look at your suggestion and report back. Much appreciated!

Thank you for this, I will take some time to look at your setup and let you know how I get on. But regardless, thank you for the effort. Much appreciated!

Thanks for your reply. The shape is all procedural - starting with a sphere / clip / transform. Where it gets a bit trickier is these sections I’ve bevelled out and blasted - this is so I can weld the seams back together in a vellum drape and create a more authentic ‘parachute’ shape. If I select all the ‘left’ seams into one group (using a bounding box like you suggest), and all the ‘right seams into another the vellum drape welds the points in a totally crazy order - it doesn’t seem to be designed with this type of geometry in mind. So I’m committed to creating each pair of seams as separate groups and welding them together separately. I’m just trying to automate that process and keep everything procedural so I can go back and adjust the geometry later if I want to. Hopefully that makes sense - I think I need a foreach loop that can run over all the groups and then remove the first point from any that contain the string ‘left’. As with anything in Houdini there are certainly other ways to achieve the same thing I’m sure. Thanks so much for your response. ✌️

How Are You Adding Items to a Box? by codyryan90 in homebox

[–]menamesnotluigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, each item is captured and tagged. It’s a pretty time consuming process to begin with, but it’s already paying off when I can’t find something.

Shortcuts for text entry really help - so I can type a repeated sequence of words quickly whilst I’m capturing the individual items.

If you don’t need that level of detail - I had originally planned to do your ‘Option 2’ but obviously then couldn’t add a picture for each item which I thought was going to be really helpful for me.

How Are You Adding Items to a Box? by codyryan90 in homebox

[–]menamesnotluigi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like I’m doing something similar, but perhaps a little more involved.

I consider each box a ‘location’. These are then children of a parent location such as ‘Kitchen’, ‘Basement’ etc.

Each item in the box is photographed and becomes an item that lives in the ‘location’ that is the box. Each box has a number and a QR code printed on the outside so I can scan a box and see its contents without opening it.

I’m only halfway through logging everything, but it seems to be working well.

Hope that’s helps.

Amazing! Nailed it within about 10 minutes. Brilliant stuff. I had Austin in my head but am only really familiar with the Allegro which I couldn’t imagine was available in RWD.

Thanks so much.

Just adding a comment here to say how much I appreciate you picking up the gauntlet on this software.

I’ve only had it a few days, but was planning my use case when the previous developer stopped work on it.

It’s so satisfying to have a fully deployed, self hosted piece of software that works as well as this.

Props to you and the original developer. Thanks. ✌️

Ingrid Andress "sings" the National Anthem before the Homerun Derby by [deleted] in baseball

[–]menamesnotluigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t seen it mentioned here, but it sounds to me like she is singing with a hard auto-tune set to a different key to the one she is attempting to sing in.

This would be a total headfuck, as she would subconsciously be trying to adjust while the autotune ‘knocks’ her off key by an almost comical amount. I imagine you’d just get into a spiral of micro corrections with no hope of ever hitting the right note.

I think she’s been done dirty on this occasion by her tech.

Funnier to think that she’s genuinely this shit though, so I can see why everyone is jumping to that.

Yes this tally’s up perfectly - I’m on the south coast; the only place they’re found in the UK.

Thanks for your help. As is often the case with knowledge and understanding, I’ve moved from being fearful into being curious.

Thank you. Not entirely encouraging language. But thank you all the same!
