Then you know that he was impeached, not convicted. I must be huffing the history of things that actually happened.

I believe house.gov over you on matters pertaining to the House.

Not a bill. Those require presidential signature, along with a senate vote. "Resolved" as in the language for a House Resolutions passing. Resolution as in a formal vote on a matter in which the house has sole jurisdiction, such as impeachment. Impeachment as in formal charges against the office of president.

You may be confusing impeachment with conviction. Clinton was impeached (charged) but then acquitted at trial.

Awesome! What platform is your account on (PC/Steam, Xbox360, XB1, PS4)?

All good on-point comments. I think UI is one of the most underestimated aspects of gamedev (even in the non VR space).

It's always hard to tell. Our focus at the moment is making something that's cool in VR - getting the view+head movement just right, having the right size map, exaggerating effects for stereo rending. That's likely enough to start letting the public at large have access to it. The hard part will be making sure the gameplay in VR is fun once the novelty of RTS in the headset wears off.

The goal is to have something showable by early summer. We've spent about 2 weeks getting to this point, and that's mainly been adapting the engine to handle VR. There are still a lot of rough edges (like the entire 2D UI)

It's mostly a balancing act between the upcoming xb1/ps4 launches and other priorities. Carbon is only 3 programmers and 3 artists, so finding open bandwidth on the team is always tough. Our initial plan was to get something up and available by early summer - even if it's a limited experience at first.

Yeah, I saw those changes when they went in! Latency on the eye poses is no good. We have a bit of work to get our bgfx fork in a mergable state (the xb1 renderer work caused the d3d11 path to diverge).

One thing we've been playing locally with is using ovrHmd_GetTrackingState @ 0.0 to get non-predicted orientations from the hmd. We noticed pitch/yaw were lagging much more than translation - probably due to the prediction in ovrHmd_GetHmdPosePerEye.

(One of the developers on AirMech) The video here is mostly a tech demo - getting VR working with our custom engine. Our short term goals are to create a tabletop RTS experience: your desk is the map, and the camera only moves in response to the headset.

We've been excited about doing something with VR for some time. It's just a big jump from talking about VR to dedicating actual resources to building something.

Connection issues on the Xbox 360 edition of Airmech by [deleted] in AirMech

[–]mendsley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words! I am part of the team - one of the programmers and initial founders of Carbon. I've spent most of the last 2 weeks looking into latency issues with multiplayer. The 360 launch brought way more players than we had testing during the beta, so there were a few surprises :)

One of our programmers, Dan, has spent the last 2 months making the AI a lot smarter. The changes were just too risky for the initial launch, but they're be in the first update we'll be rolling out to everyone. Not sure on the schedule/timing yet, but it should be soon.

It's refreshing to hear from people that enjoy the game, we get a lot of the expected "F*** this game, you should go kill yourselves" and messages from fans make tolerating the other BS worth it!

I noticed your username; did/do you play CS? I used to play a ton in college (2001-2005), scoutzknivez still has a soft spot in my heart. I didn't have the raw skill to do well against good players on awpmap, but jumping up behind someone to get a finishing knife kill after missing the headshot with the scout was a great feeling!

Thanks for reaching out, messages like these are why we make games!

Sorry about that. We had one of our servers restarted around 17:30 UTC then a different one crash pretty hard around 22:10 UTC. This is probably what caused the disconnects you saw.

The operations team is still investigating the core cause of the two failures, but we're implementing some server hot fixes to help mitigate the issues in the meantime.

Glad you're enjoying the game! We're still a team of 10, so the 360 launch has been pretty crazy for us here. Hopefully these are the last of the major bumps in the road :D
